"Neverthelesshearthe wordof the LORD,allJudahwho are livingin the landof Egypt,'Behold,I have swornby My greatname,'saysthe LORD,nevershall My namebe invokedagainby the mouthof anymanof Judahin allthe landof Egypt,saying,"As the LordGODlives."
and said,"By Myself I have sworn,declaresthe LORD,becauseyou have donethisthingand have not withheldyour son,your onlyson,
But to the wickedGodsays,"Whatright have you to tellof My statutesAnd to takeMy covenantin your mouth?
"My covenantI will not violate,Norwill I alterthe utteranceof My lips.
The LORDhas swornby His righthandand by His strongarm,"I will neveragaingiveyour grain[as] foodfor your enemies;Norwill foreignersdrinkyour newwinefor whichyou have labored."
"But ifyou will not obeythesewords,I swearby Myself," declaresthe LORD,"that thishousewill becomea desolation."'"
But like the badfigswhichcannotbe eatendueto rottenness--indeed,thussaysthe LORD--soI will abandonZedekiahkingof Judahand his officials,and the remnantof Jerusalemwho remainin thislandand the ones who dwellin the landof Egypt.
And you will swear,'As the LORDlives,'In truth,in justiceand in righteousness;Then the nationswill blessthemselves in Him, And in Him they will glory."
"Thereforethussaysthe LORDof hosts,the Godof Israel,'Behold,I am going to setMy faceagainst you for woe,even to cutoffallJudah.
So there will be norefugeesor survivorsfor the remnantof Judahwho have enteredthe landof Egyptto residethereand then to returnto the landof Judah,to whichthey are longingto returnand live;for nonewill returnexcept[a few] refugees.'"
Then Jeremiahsaidto allthe people,including allthe women,"Hearthe wordof the LORD,allJudahwhoare in the landof Egypt,
"As I live,"declaresthe KingWhose nameis the LORDof hosts,"Surelyone shall come[who looms up] like Taboramong the mountains,Or like Carmelby the sea.
"For I have swornby Myself," declaresthe LORD,"that Bozrahwill becomean objectof horror,a reproach,a ruinand a curse;and allits citieswill becomeperpetualruins."
"And althoughthey say,'As the LORDlives,'Surelythey swearfalsely."
The LORDof hostshas swornby Himself:"SurelyI will fillyou with a populationlike locusts,And they will cryout with shoutsof victory overyou."
"Will you steal,murder,and commitadulteryand swearfalsely,and offersacrificesto Baaland walkafterothergodsthat you have not known,
"As for you, O houseof Israel,"thussaysthe LordGOD,"Go,serveeveryonehis idols;but lateryou will surelylistento Me, and My holynameyou will profanenolongerwith your giftsand with your idols.
Thoughyou, Israel,playthe harlot,Do not let Judahbecomeguilty;Also do not goto Gilgal,Or goup to Beth-avenAnd takethe oath:"As the LORDlives!"
Then one's uncle,or his undertaker,will lifthim up to carryout [his] bonesfrom the house,and he will sayto the one whois in the innermostpartof the house,"Is anyone elsewith you?" And that one will say,"Noone."Then he will answer,"Keepquiet.For the nameof the LORDis not to be mentioned."
The LordGODhas swornby Himself,the LORDGodof hostshas declared:"I loathethe arroganceof Jacob,And detesthis citadels;Therefore I will deliverup [the] cityand allit contains."
The LORDhas swornby the prideof Jacob,"Indeed,I will neverforgetanyof their deeds.
"Sayto them, 'As I live,'saysthe LORD,'justas you have spokenin My hearing,soI will surely doto you;
And to whomdid He swearthat they would not enterHis rest,but to thosewhowere disobedient?
For when Godmade the promiseto Abraham,sinceHe couldswearby no onegreater,He sworeby Himself,
sothat by twounchangeablethingsin whichit is impossiblefor Godto lie,we who have taken refugewould havestrongencouragementto take holdof the hopeset beforeus.
