The Chaldeansalso burnedwith firethe king'spalaceand the housesof the people, and they brokedownthe wallsof Jerusalem.
Now on the seventhday of the fifthmonth, whichwas the nineteenthyearof KingNebuchadnezzar, kingof Babylon,Nebuzaradanthe captainof the guard,a servantof the kingof Babylon, cameto Jerusalem.
Then they burnedthe houseof Godand brokedownthe wallof Jerusalem, and burnedallits fortifiedbuildingswith fireand destroyedallits valuablearticles.
They saidto me, "The remnanttherein the provincewhosurvivedthe captivityare in greatdistressand reproach, and the wallof Jerusalemis brokendownand its gatesare burnedwith fire."
For they have devouredJacobAnd laidwastehis habitation.
In my earsthe LORDof hosts[has sworn], "Surely, manyhousesshall becomedesolate,[Even] greatand fineones, withoutoccupants.
"But ifyou do not listento Me to keepthe sabbathdayholyby not carryinga loadand comingin through the gatesof Jerusalemon the sabbathday, then I will kindlea firein its gatesand it will devourthe palacesof Jerusalemand not be quenched."'"
"For I have setMy faceagainst thiscityfor harmand not for good,"declaresthe LORD."It will be giveninto the handof the kingof Babylonand he will burnit with fire."'
"The Chaldeanswho are fightingagainstthiscitywill enterand setthiscityon fireand burnit, with the houseswhere[people] have offeredincenseto Baalon their roofsand pouredout drinkofferingsto othergodsto provokeMe to anger.
"Thussaysthe LORDGodof Israel,Goand speakto Zedekiahkingof Judahand sayto him: "Thussaysthe LORD,'Behold,I am givingthiscityinto the handof the kingof Babylon, and he will burnit with fire.

"Goup through her vinerowsand destroy,But do not executea completedestruction;Stripawayher branches,For they are not the LORD'S.
Thereforethussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,My angerand My wrathwill be pouredout on thisplace,on manand on beastand on the treesof the fieldand on the fruitof the ground;and it will burnand not be quenched."
The adversaryhas stretchedout his handOverallher preciousthings,For she has seenthe nationsenterher sanctuary,The ones whomYou commandedThat they should not enterinto Your congregation.
The Lordhas swallowedup; He has not sparedAllthe habitationsof Jacob. In His wrathHe has throwndownThe strongholdsof the daughterof Judah; He has brought[them] downto the ground; He has profanedthe kingdomand its princes.
The Lordhas rejectedHis altar,He has abandonedHis sanctuary; He has deliveredinto the handof the enemyThe wallsof her palaces. They have madea noisein the houseof the LORDAs in the dayof an appointedfeast.
"They will burnyour houseswith fireand executejudgmentson you in the sightof manywomen. Then I will stopyou from playingthe harlot, and you will alsonolongerpayyour lovers.
The companywill stonethem with stonesand cutthem downwith their swords;they will slaytheir sonsand their daughtersand burntheir houseswith fire.
Now in the twelfthyearof our exile,on the fifthof the tenthmonth, the refugeesfrom Jerusalemcameto me, saying,"The cityhas been taken."
"So I will sendfireupon JudahAnd it will consumethe citadelsof Jerusalem."
Therefore,on accountof you Zionwill be plowedas a field,Jerusalemwill becomea heapof ruins,And the mountainof the temple[will become] highplacesof a forest.
