The LORDhas swornby His righthandand by His strongarm,"I will neveragaingiveyour grain[as] foodfor your enemies;Norwill foreignersdrinkyour newwinefor whichyou have labored."
Your landis desolate,Your citiesare burnedwith fire,Your fields--strangersare devouringthem in your presence;It is desolation,as overthrownby strangers.

"For thisis like the daysof Noahto Me, WhenI sworethat the watersof NoahWould not floodthe earthagain;SoI have swornthat I will not be angrywith you Norwill I rebukeyou.
"Whydo you spendmoneyfor what is not bread,And your wagesfor whatdoes not satisfy?Listencarefullyto Me, and eatwhatis good,And delightyourselfin abundance.

"Againyou will plantvineyardsOn the hillsof Samaria;The planterswill plantAnd will enjoy[them].
"They will devouryour harvestand your food;They will devouryour sonsand your daughters;They will devouryour flocksand your herds;They will devouryour vinesand your figtrees;They will demolishwith the swordyour fortifiedcitiesin whichyou trust.

"Your oxshall be slaughteredbefore your eyes,but you will not eatof it; your donkeyshall be tornawayfrom you, and will not be restoredto you; your sheepshall be givento your enemies,and you will havenoneto saveyou.
"A peoplewhomyou do not knowshall eatup the produceof your groundand allyour labors,and you will neverbe anythingbut oppressedand crushedcontinually.
