[Men] will gointo cavesof the rocksAnd into holesof the groundBeforethe terrorof the LORDAnd the splendorof His majesty,When He arisesto makethe earthtremble.
"Foreignersloseheart,And cometremblingout of their fortresses.
Who shakesthe earthout of its place,And its pillarstremble;
Arise,O LORD,in Your anger;Liftup Yourself against the rageof my adversaries,And arouseYourself for me; You have appointedjudgment.
ThereforeI will make the heavenstremble,And the earthwill be shakenfrom its placeAt the furyof the LORDof hostsIn the dayof His burninganger.
Enterthe rockand hidein the dustFrom the terrorof the LORDand from the splendorof His majesty.
In order to gointo the cavernsof the rocksand the cleftsof the cliffsBeforethe terrorof the LORDand the splendorof His majesty,When He arisesto makethe earthtremble.
Behold,the LORDlaysthe earthwaste,devastatesit, distortsits surfaceand scattersits inhabitants.
Then it will be that he who fleesthe reportof disasterwill fallinto the pit,And he who climbsout of the pitwill be caughtin the snare;For the windowsaboveare opened,and the foundationsof the earthshake.
The earthis brokenasunder,The earthis splitthrough,The earthis shakenviolently.
And everyblowof the rodof punishment,Whichthe LORDwill layon him, Will be with [the music of] tambourinesand lyres;And in battles,brandishingweapons,He will fightthem.
"NowI will arise,"saysthe LORD,"NowI will be exalted,nowI will be liftedup.
They will allcomeand settleon the steepravines,on the ledgesof the cliffs,on allthe thornbushesand on allthe wateringplaces.
"Behold,I am going to sendfor manyfishermen,"declaresthe LORD,"and they will fishfor them; and afterwardsI will sendfor manyhunters,and they will huntthem from everymountainand everyhilland from the cleftsof the rocks.
At the soundof the horsemanand bowmaneverycityflees;They gointo the thicketsand climbamong the rocks;Everycityis forsaken,And nomandwellsin them.
"Leavethe citiesand dwellamong the crags,O inhabitantsof Moab,And be like a dovethat nestsBeyondthe mouthof the chasm.
"Thusyou shall sayto them, 'Thussaysthe LordGOD,"As I live,surelythose whoare in the wasteplaceswill fallby the sword,and whoeveris in the openfieldI will giveto the beaststo be devoured,and those whoare in the strongholdsand in the caveswill dieof pestilence.
Also the highplacesof Aven,the sinof Israel,will be destroyed;Thornand thistlewill growon their altars;Then they will sayto the mountains,"Coverus!" And to the hills,"Fallon us!"
They will lickthe dustlike a serpent,Like reptilesof the earth.They will cometremblingout of their fortresses;To the LORDour Godthey will comein dreadAnd they will be afraidbeforeYou.
You toowill becomedrunk,You will be hidden.You toowill searchfor a refugefrom the enemy.
"For thussaysthe LORDof hosts,Oncemorein a littlewhile,I am going to shakethe heavensand the earth,the seaalso and the dryland.
I will shakeallthe nations;and they will comewith the wealthof allnations,and I will fillthishousewith glory,'saysthe LORDof hosts.
"Thenthey will beginTO SAYTO THE MOUNTAINS,'FALLON US,' AND TO THE HILLS,'COVERUS.'
Thesewill paythe penaltyof eternaldestruction,awayfrom the presenceof the Lordand from the gloryof His power,
([men] of whomthe worldwas not worthy),wanderingin desertsand mountainsand cavesand holesin the ground.
And His voiceshookthe earththen,but nowHe has promised,saying,"YETONCE MOREI WILL SHAKENOT ONLYTHE EARTH,BUT ALSOTHE HEAVEN."
And in that hourthere was a greatearthquake,and a tenthof the cityfell;seventhousandpeoplewere killedin the earthquake,and the restwere terrifiedand gavegloryto the Godof heaven.
And the templeof Godwhich is in heavenwas opened;and the arkof His covenantappearedin His temple,and there were flashes of lightningand soundsand peals of thunderand an earthquakeand a greathailstorm.
And there were flashes of lightningand soundsand peals of thunder;and there was a greatearthquake,suchas there had not beensincemancameto be upon the earth,sogreatan earthquake[was it, and] somighty.
ThenI sawa greatwhitethroneand Him who satupon it, from whosepresenceearthand heavenfled away,and noplacewas foundfor them.
And in thosedaysmenwill seekdeathand will not findit; they will longto die,and deathfleesfrom them.
When the menof Israelsawthat they were in a strait(for the peoplewere hard-pressed),then the peoplehidthemselves in caves,in thickets,in cliffs,in cellars,and in pits.
When bothof them revealedthemselves to the garrisonof the Philistines,the Philistinessaid,"Behold,Hebrewsare comingout of the holeswherethey have hiddenthemselves."
