The sonsof Israelwere musteredand were provisionedand wentto meetthem; and the sonsof Israelcampedbeforethem like twolittleflocksof goats,but the Arameansfilledthe country.
In thosedaysthe LORDbeganto cutoff[portions] from Israel;and Hazaeldefeatedthem throughoutthe territoryof Israel:

"Nowtherefore, comemakea bargainwith my masterthe kingof Assyria,and I will giveyou two thousandhorses,ifyou are ableon your part to setriderson them.
"Whohas arousedone from the eastWhom He callsin righteousnessto His feet?He deliversup nationsbeforehim And subdueskings.He makesthem like dustwith his sword,As the wind-driven chaffwith his bow.
Multitudes,multitudesin the valleyof decision!For the dayof the LORDis nearin the valleyof decision.
I will setMy faceagainst you so that you will be struckdownbeforeyour enemies;and those who hateyou will ruleover you, and you will fleewhen nooneis pursuingyou.
Thussaysthe LORD,"For threetransgressionsof Damascusand for fourI will not revokeits [punishment], Becausethey threshedGileadwith [implements] of sharpiron.
"I senta plagueamong you after the mannerof Egypt;I slewyour youngmenby the swordalongwith your capturedhorses,And I made the stenchof your campriseup in your nostrils;Yet you have not returnedto Me," declaresthe LORD.
