And you shall be brought before governors, and before kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles:
And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to be mocked, and scourged, and crucified, and the third day he shall rise again.
Therefore behold I send to you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them you will put to death and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues, and persecute from city to city:
And the chief priests and the whole council sought false witness against Jesus, that they might put him to death:
