² H452And ElijahH559said[H8799] H477unto ElishaH3427, Tarry[H8798] H3068here, I pray thee; for the LORDH7971hath sent[H8804] H1008me to BethelH477. And ElishaH559said[H8799] H3068unto him, As the LORDH2416livethH5315, and as thy soulH2416livethH5800, I will not leave[H8799] H3381thee. So they went down[H8799] H1008to Bethel.

³ H1121And the sonsH5030of the prophetsH1008that were at BethelH3318came forth[H8799] H477to ElishaH559, and said[H8799] H3045unto him, Knowest[H8804] H3068thou that the LORDH3947will take away[H8802] H113thy masterH7218from thy headH3117to dayH559? And he said[H8799] H3045, Yea, I know[H8804] H2814it; hold ye your peace[H8685] .

⁴ H452And ElijahH559said[H8799] H477unto him, ElishaH3427, tarry[H8798] H3068here, I pray thee; for the LORDH7971hath sent[H8804] H3405me to JerichoH559. And he said[H8799] H3068, As the LORDH2416livethH5315, and as thy soulH2416livethH5800, I will not leave[H8799] H935thee. So they came[H8799] H3405to Jericho.

⁵ H1121And the sonsH5030of the prophetsH3405that were at JerichoH5066came[H8799] H477to ElishaH559, and said[H8799] H3045unto him, Knowest[H8804] H3068thou that the LORDH3947will take away[H8802] H113thy masterH7218from thy headH3117to dayH559? And he answered[H8799] H3045, Yea, I know[H8804] H2814it; hold ye your peace[H8685] .

⁶ H452And ElijahH559said[H8799] H3427unto him, Tarry[H8798] H3068, I pray thee, here; for the LORDH7971hath sent[H8804] H3383me to JordanH559. And he said[H8799] H3068, As the LORDH2416livethH5315, and as thy soulH2416livethH5800, I will not leave[H8799] H8147thee. And they twoH3212went on[H8799] .

⁷ H2572And fiftyH376menH1121of the sonsH5030of the prophetsH1980went[H8804] H5975, and stood[H8799] H5048to viewH7350afar offH8147: and they twoH5975stood[H8804] H3383by Jordan.

⁸ H452And ElijahH3947took[H8799] H155his mantleH1563, and wrapped it together[H8799] H5221, and smote[H8686] H4325the watersH2673, and they were divided[H8735] H8147hither and thither, so that they twoH5674went over[H8799] H2724on dry ground.

⁹ H5674And it came to pass, when they were gone over[H8800] H452, that ElijahH559said[H8804] H477unto ElishaH7592, Ask[H8798] H6213what I shall do[H8799] H3947for thee, before I be taken away[H8735] H477from thee. And ElishaH559said[H8799] H8147, I pray thee, let a doubleH6310portionH7307of thy spirit be upon me.

¹⁰ H559And he said[H8799] H7592, Thou hast asked[H8800] H7185a hard thing[H8689] H7200: nevertheless, if thou see[H8799] H3947me when I am taken[H8795]  from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so .

¹¹ H1980And it came to pass, as they still[H8800] H1980went on[H8802] H1696, and talked[H8763] H7393, that, behold, there appeared a chariotH784of fireH5483, and horsesH784of fireH6504, and parted[H8686] H8147them bothH996asunderH452; and ElijahH5927went up[H8799] H5591by a whirlwindH8064into heaven.

¹² H477And ElishaH7200saw[H8802] H6817it, and he cried[H8764] H1, My fatherH1, my fatherH7393, the chariotH3478of IsraelH6571, and the horsemenH7200thereof. And he saw[H8804] H2388him no more: and he took hold[H8686] H899of his own clothesH7167, and rent[H8799] H8147them in twoH7168pieces.

¹³ H7311He took up[H8686] H155also the mantleH452of ElijahH5307that fell[H8804] H7725from him, and went back[H8799] H5975, and stood[H8799] H8193by the bankH3383of Jordan;

¹⁴ H3947And he took[H8799] H155the mantleH452of ElijahH5307that fell[H8804] H5221from him, and smote[H8686] H4325the watersH559, and said[H8799] H3068, Where is the LORDH430GodH452of ElijahH5221? and when he also had smitten[H8686] H4325the watersH2673, they parted[H8735] H477hither and thither: and ElishaH5674went over[H8799] .

¹⁵ H1121And when the sonsH5030of the prophetsH3405which were to view at JerichoH7200saw[H8799] H559him, they said[H8799] H7307, The spiritH452of ElijahH5117doth rest[H8804] H477on ElishaH935. And they came[H8799] H7125to meet[H8800] H7812him, and bowed[H8691] H776themselves to the ground before him.

¹⁶ H559And they said[H8799] H3426unto him, Behold now, there beH5650with thy servantsH2572fiftyH2428strongH1121menH582 H3212; let them go[H8799] H1245, we pray thee, and seek[H8762] H113thy masterH7307: lest peradventure the SpiritH3068of the LORDH5375hath taken him up[H8804] H7993, and cast[H8686] H259him upon someH2022mountainH259, or into someH1516valleyH559. And he said[H8799] H7971, Ye shall not send[H8799] .

¹⁷ H6484And when they urged[H8799] H954him till he was ashamed[H8800] H559, he said[H8799] H7971, Send[H8798] H7971. They sent[H8799] H2572therefore fiftyH376menH1245; and they sought[H8762] H7969threeH3117daysH4672, but found[H8804]  him not.

¹⁸ H7725And when they came again[H8799] H3427to him, (for he tarried[H8802] H3405at JerichoH559,) he said[H8799] H559unto them, Did I not say[H8804] H3212unto you, Go[H8799]  not?

¹⁹ H582And the menH5892of the cityH559said[H8799] H477unto ElishaH4186, Behold, I pray thee, the situationH5892of this cityH2896is pleasantH113, as my lordH7200seeth[H8802] H4325: but the waterH7451is naughtH776, and the groundH7921barren[H8764] .

²⁰ H559And he said[H8799] H3947, Bring[H8798] H2319me a newH6746cruseH7760, and put[H8798] H4417saltH3947therein. And they brought[H8799]  it to him.

²¹ H3318And he went forth[H8799] H4161unto the springH4325of the watersH7993, and cast[H8686] H4417the saltH559in there, and said[H8799] H559, Thus saith[H8804] H3068the LORDH7495, I have healed[H8765] H4325these watersH4194; there shall not be from thence any more deathH7921or barren[H8764]  land .

²² H4325So the watersH7495were healed[H8735] H3117unto this dayH1697, according to the sayingH477of ElishaH1696which he spake[H8765] .

²³ H5927And he went up[H8799] H1008from thence unto BethelH5927: and as he was going up[H8802] H1870by the wayH3318, there came forth[H8804] H6996littleH5288childrenH5892out of the cityH7046, and mocked[H8691] H559him, and said[H8799] H5927unto him, Go up[H8798] H7142, thou bald headH5927; go up[H8798] H7142, thou bald head.

²⁴ H6437And he turned[H8799] H310backH7200, and looked[H8799] H7043on them, and cursed[H8762] H8034them in the nameH3068of the LORDH3318. And there came forth[H8799] H8147twoH1677she bearsH3293out of the woodH1234, and tare[H8762] H705fortyH8147and twoH3206children of them.

²⁵ H3212And he went[H8799] H2022from thence to mountH3760CarmelH7725, and from thence he returned[H8804] H8111to Samaria.
