David took the crown off their king’s head. [69] The crown was gold and weighed about 75 pounds. [70] This crown had precious stones in it. They put the crown on David’s head. David took many valuable things out of the city.


The men of Judah came to Hebron and anointed [8] David to be the king of Judah. Then they told David, “The men of Jabesh Gilead buried Saul.”


So all the leaders of Israel came to meet with King David at Hebron. King David made an agreement with these leaders in Hebron in front of the Lord. Then the leaders anointed [22] David to be the king of Israel.


David took the crown from their king’s {\cf2\super [210]} head. That gold crown weighed about 75 pounds. {\cf2\super [211]} There were valuable stones in the crown. The crown was put on David’s head. Then David had a great many valuable things brought out of the city of Rabbah.


“Now, Lord God, get up,\par and come to your special place,\par the Box of the Agreement {\cf2\super [114]} \par that shows your strength.\par May your priests be dressed with salvation.\par May your true followers be happy\par about these good things.\par


I (God) owe no person anything.\par Everything under heaven belongs to me. {\cf2\super [102]} \par


I was in trouble,\par and my enemies attacked me.\par But the Lord was there to support me!\par

God, you have hidden away many wonderful things for your followers.\par You do good things in front of everyone for the people who trust you.\par


God loves me, and he will help me win.\par He will help me defeat my enemies.\par

God has been very kind to you. And he has been patient with you. God has been waiting for you to change. But you think nothing of his kindness. Maybe you don’t understand that God is kind to you so that you will change your hearts and lives.


Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In Christ, God has given us every spiritual blessing in heaven.


For a short time Jesus was made lower than the angels, but now we see him wearing a crown of glory and honor because he suffered and died. Because of God’s grace (kindness) Jesus died for every person.


His eyes are like burning fire. He has many crowns on his head. He has a name written on him, but he is the only one who knows the name. No other person knows the name.


Samuel took the horn [147] with the oil in it, and poured the special oil on Jesse’s youngest son in front of his brothers. The Lord’s Spirit came on David with great power from that day on. Then Samuel went back home to Ramah.
