Psalm 59 - Easy To Read Version

¹ God, save me from my enemies.\par Help me defeat the people who\par have come to fight me.\par

² Save me from those people who\par do bad things.\par Save me from those murderers.\par

³ Look, strong men are waiting for me.\par They are waiting to kill me,\par even though I did not sin\par or commit any crime.\par

⁴ I did nothing wrong,\par but they rushed here to attack me.\par Lord, come and see for yourself!\par

⁵ You are the Lord God All-Powerful,\par the God of Israel!\par Get up and punish those people.\par Don’t show any mercy to those evil traitors.\par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [348]})\i0 \par

⁶ Those evil men are like dogs\par that come into town in the evening,\par growling and roaming through town.\par

⁷ Listen to their threats and insults.\par They say such cruel things,\par and they don’t care who hears them.\par

⁸ Lord, laugh at them.\par Make fun of all those people.\par

⁹ I will sing my songs of praise to you. {\cf2\super [349]} \par God, you are my place of safety\par high in the mountains.\par

¹⁰ God loves me, and he will help me win.\par He will help me defeat my enemies.\par

¹¹ Don’t just kill them, God,\par or my people might forget.\par My Master and Protector, scatter them\par and defeat them with your strength.\par

¹² Those evil people curse and tell lies.\par Punish them for the things they said.\par Let their pride trap them.\par

¹³ Destroy them in your anger.\par Destroy them completely!\par Then people around the world\par will know that God rules in Israel! {\cf2\super [350]} \par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [351]})\i0 \par

¹⁴ Those evil men come into town\par in the evening like growling dogs\par roaming through town.\par

¹⁵ They will look for something to eat,\par but they will find no food\par and no place to sleep.\par

¹⁶ But in the morning, I will sing songs of praise to you.\par I will rejoice in your love.\par Why? Because you are my place\par of safety,\par high in the mountains.\par And I can run to you when\par troubles come.\par

¹⁷ I will sing my songs of praise to you.\par Why? Because you are my place\par of safety\par high in the mountains.\par You are the God who loves me!\par
