Psalm 31 - Easy To Read Version

¹ Lord, I depend on you.\par Don’t disappoint me.\par Be kind to me and save me.\par

² God, listen to me.\par Come quickly and save me.\par Be my Rock, {\cf2\super [186]} \par Be my place of safety.\par Be my fortress. {\cf2\super [187]} \par Protect me!\par

³ God, you are my Rock, {\cf2\super [188]} \par So, for the good of your name,\par lead me and guide me.\par

⁴ \{My enemies have put a trap in front of me.\}\par Save me from their trap.\par You are my place of safety.\par

⁵ Lord, you are the God we can trust.\par I put my life {\cf2\super [189]} in your hands.\par Save me!\par

⁶ I hate people who worship false gods.\par I trust only in the Lord.\par

⁷ God, your kindness makes me very happy.\par You have seen my suffering.\par You know about the troubles I have.\par

⁸ You will not let my enemies take me.\par You will free me from their traps.\par

⁹ Lord, I have many troubles.\par So be kind to me.\par I am so upset that my eyes are hurting.\par My throat and stomach are aching.\par

¹⁰ My life is ending in sadness.\par My years are passing away in sighing. {\cf2\super [190]} \par My troubles are taking away my strength.\par My strength is leaving me. {\cf2\super [191]} \par

¹¹ My enemies hate me.\par And all my neighbors hate me, too.\par All my relatives see me in the street.\par They are afraid of me and avoid me.\par

¹² People have completely forgotten me,\par like some lost tool.\par

¹³ I hear the terrible things people say about me.\par Those people turned against me.\par They plan to kill me.\par

¹⁴ Lord, I trust you.\par You are my God.\par

¹⁵ My life is in your hands.\par Save me from my enemies.\par Some people are chasing me. {\cf2\super [192]} \par Save me from them.\par

¹⁶ Please welcome and accept your servant. {\cf2\super [193]} \par Be kind to me and save me!\par

¹⁷ Lord, I prayed to you.\par So I will not be disappointed.\par Bad people will be disappointed.\par They will go to the grave in silence.\par

¹⁸ Those bad people brag\par and tell lies about good people.\par Those bad people are very proud.\par But their lying lips will be silent.\par

¹⁹ God, you have hidden away many wonderful things for your followers.\par You do good things in front of everyone for the people who trust you.\par

²⁰ Bad people join together to hurt good people.\par Those bad people try to start fights.\par But you hide those good people\par and protect them.\par You protect them in your shelter.\par

²¹ Bless the Lord!\par He showed his true love for me\par in a wonderful way\par when the city was surrounded by enemies.\par

²² I was afraid, and I said,\par “I am in a place where God can’t see me.”\par But I prayed to you, God,\par and you heard my loud prayers for help.\par

²³ God’s followers, you should love the Lord!\par The Lord protects people that are loyal to him.\par But the Lord punishes people that brag about their own power.\par He gives them the punishment they deserve.\par

²⁴ Be strong and brave, all of you people\par that are waiting for the Lord’s help!\par
