When they had broughtthem outside,one said,"Escapefor your life!Do not lookbehindyou, and do not stayanywherein the valley;escapeto the mountains,oryou will be sweptaway."
"He will giveup Israelon accountof the sinsof Jeroboam,whichhe committedand with whichhe made Israelto sin."
It cameabout, as though it had been a trivialthingfor him to walkin the sinsof Jeroboamthe sonof Nebat,that he marriedJezebelthe daughterof Ethbaalkingof the Sidonians,and wentto serveBaaland worshipedhim.
They also broughtbarleyand strawfor the horsesand swiftsteedsto the placewhereit should be, eachaccording to his charge.
They conspiredagainsthim in Jerusalem,and he fledto Lachish;but they sentafterhim to Lachishand killedhim there.
Then the kingof AssyriasentTartanand Rab-sarisand Rabshakehfrom Lachishto KingHezekiahwith a largearmyto Jerusalem.So they wentup and cameto Jerusalem.And when they wentup, they cameand stoodby the conduitof the upperpool,whichis on the highwayof the fuller'sfield.
He walkedin the wayof the kingsof Israel,justas the houseof Ahabhad done,for the daughterof Ahabbecamehis wife;and he didevilin the sightof the LORD.

AfterthisSennacheribkingof Assyriasenthis servantsto Jerusalemwhile he [was] besiegingLachishwith allhis forceswith him, againstHezekiahkingof Judahand againstallJudahwho[were] at Jerusalem,saying,
"Can you bindthe wildoxin a furrowwith ropes,Orwill he harrowthe valleysafteryou?
Then Mosessaidto Aaron,"Whatdid thispeopledoto you, that you have brought[such] greatsinupon them?"
Madmenahhas fled.The inhabitantsof Gebimhave soughtrefuge.
And the kingof AssyriasentRabshakehfrom Lachishto Jerusalemto KingHezekiahwith a largearmy.And he stoodby the conduitof the upperpoolon the highwayof the fuller'sfield.
Then Rabshakehreturnedand foundthe king of AssyriafightingagainstLibnah,for he had heardthat the king had leftLachish.
"And I sawthat for allthe adulteriesof faithlessIsrael,I had senther awayand givenher a writof divorce,yet her treacheroussisterJudahdid not fear;but she wentand was a harlotalso.
when the armyof the kingof Babylonwas fightingagainstJerusalemand againstallthe remainingcitiesof Judah,[that is], Lachishand Azekah,for they [alone] remainedas fortifiedcitiesamong the citiesof Judah.
At the soundof the horsemanand bowmaneverycityflees;They gointo the thicketsand climbamong the rocks;Everycityis forsaken,And nomandwellsin them.
"Now her sisterOholibahsaw[this], yet she was morecorruptin her lustthanshe, and her harlotrieswere morethanthe harlotriesof her sister.
Allthisis for the rebellionof JacobAnd for the sinsof the houseof Israel.Whatis the rebellionof Jacob?Is it not Samaria?Whatis the highplaceof Judah?Is it not Jerusalem?
Therefore Adoni-zedekkingof Jerusalemsent[word] to Hohamkingof Hebronand to Piramkingof Jarmuthand to Japhiakingof Lachishand to Debirkingof Eglon,saying,
Lachishand Bozkathand Eglon,
But I havea few thingsagainstyou, becauseyou havetheresome who holdthe teachingof Balaam,whokept teachingBalakto puta stumbling blockbeforethe sonsof Israel,to eatthings sacrificed to idolsand to commit [acts of] immorality.
But I have[this] againstyou, that you toleratethe womanJezebel,who callsherselfa prophetess,and she teachesand leadsMy bond-servantsastrayso that they commit [acts of] immoralityand eatthings sacrificed to idols.
