ThenSolomonbuilta highplacefor Chemoshthe detestableidolof Moab,on the mountainwhichis eastof Jerusalem,and for Molechthe detestableidolof the sonsof Ammon.
But he walkedin the wayof the kingsof Israel,and evenmade his sonpassthrough the fire,according to the abominationsof the nationswhomthe LORDhad drivenout from beforethe sonsof Israel.
and the AvvitesmadeNibhazand Tartak;and the Sepharvitesburnedtheir childrenin the fireto Adrammelechand Anammelechthe godsof Sepharvaim.
He made his sonpassthrough the fire,practicedwitchcraftand useddivination,and dealtwith mediumsand spiritists.He didmuchevilin the sightof the LORDprovoking[Him to anger].
He also defiledTopheth,whichis in the valleyof the sonof Hinnom,that nomanmight make his sonor his daughterpassthrough the firefor Molech.
Moreover, he burnedincensein the valleyof Ben-hinnomand burnedhis sonsin fire,according to the abominationsof the nationswhomthe LORDhad drivenout beforethe sonsof Israel.
and have builtthe highplacesof Baalto burntheir sonsin the fireas burntofferingsto Baal,a thing whichI nevercommandedor spokeof, nordid it [ever] enterMy mind;
"They builtthe highplacesof Baalthat are in the valleyof Ben-hinnomto cause their sonsand their daughtersto passthrough[the fire] to Molech,whichI had not commandedthem norhad it enteredMy mindthat they should dothisabomination,to cause Judahto sin.
"They have builtthe highplacesof Topheth,whichis in the valleyof the sonof Hinnom,to burntheir sonsand their daughtersin the fire,whichI did not command,and it did not comeinto My mind.
and I pronouncedthem uncleanbecause of their gifts,in that they caused alltheir firstbornto passthrough[the fire] sothat I might makethem desolate,in orderthat they might knowthat I am the LORD."'
"When you offeryour gifts,when you cause your sonsto passthrough the fire,you are defilingyourselves with allyour idolsto this day.And shall I be inquiredof by you, O houseof Israel?As I live,"declaresthe LordGOD,"I will not be inquiredof by you.
"For they have committedadultery,and bloodis on their hands.Thus they have committedadulterywith their idolsand evencaused their sons,whomthey boreto Me, to passthrough[the fire] to them as food.
You shall not swearfalselyby My name,so as to profanethe nameof your God;I am the LORD.
They shall be holyto their Godand not profanethe nameof their God,for they presentthe offeringsby fireto the LORD,the foodof their God;so they shall be holy.
"TellAaronand his sonsto be carefulwith the holy[gifts] of the sonsof Israel,whichthey dedicateto Me, so as not to profaneMy holyname;I am the LORD.
"You shall not profaneMy holyname,but I will be sanctifiedamongthe sonsof Israel;I am the LORDwho sanctifiesyou,
"You shall speakto the sonsof Israel,saying,Ifanyonecurseshis God,then he will bearhis sin.
"These who pantafterthe [very] dustof the earthon the headof the helplessAlso turnasidethe wayof the humble;And a manand his fatherresortto the same girlIn orderto profaneMy holyname.
"You also carriedalong Sikkuthyour kingand Kiyyun,your images,the starof your godswhichyou madefor yourselves.
Does the LORDtakedelightin thousandsof rams,In tenthousandriversof oil?Shall I presentmy firstborn[for] my rebelliousacts,The fruitof my bodyfor the sinof my soul?
"But you are profaningit, in that you say,'The tableof the Lordis defiled,and as for its fruit,its foodis to be despised.'
YOU ALSOTOOKALONG THE TABERNACLEOF MOLOCHAND THE STAROF THE GODROMPHA,THE IMAGESWHICHYOU MADETO WORSHIP.I ALSOWILL REMOVEYOU BEYONDBABYLON.'
and exchangedthe gloryof the incorruptibleGodfor an imagein the formof corruptiblemanand of birdsand four-footed animalsand crawling creatures.
For "THE NAMEOF GODIS BLASPHEMEDAMONGTHE GENTILESBECAUSEOF YOU," justas it is written.
"You shall not behavethustoward the LORDyour God,for everyabominableactwhichthe LORDhatesthey have donefor their gods;for they evenburntheir sonsand daughtersin the fireto their gods.
"There shall not be foundamong you anyone who makes his sonor his daughterpassthrough the fire,one who usesdivination,one who practiceswitchcraft,or one who interpretsomens,or a sorcerer,
