I will stretchoverJerusalemthe lineof Samariaand the plummetof the houseof Ahab,and I will wipeJerusalemas one wipesa dish,wipingit and turningit upsidedown.
You yourselveshave seenwhatI didto the Egyptians,and [how] I boreyou on eagles'wings,and broughtyou to Myself.
Desolationis leftin the cityAnd the gateis batteredto ruins.
Then I said,"Lord,howlong?"And He answered,"Untilcitiesare devastated[and] withoutinhabitant,Housesare withoutpeopleAnd the landis utterlydesolate,
Thiswholelandwill be a desolationand a horror,and thesenationswill servethe kingof Babylonseventyyears.
Behold,I am going to command,'declaresthe LORD,'and I will bringthem backto thiscity;and they will fightagainstit and takeit and burnit with fire;and I will makethe citiesof Judaha desolationwithoutinhabitant.'"
"A lionhas goneup from his thicket,And a destroyerof nationshas setout; He has goneout from his placeTo makeyour landa waste.Your citieswill be ruinsWithoutinhabitant.
"So the LORDwas nolongerableto endure[it], becauseof the evilof your deeds,becauseof the abominationswhichyou have committed;thus your landhas becomea ruin,an objectof horrorand a curse,withoutan inhabitant,as [it is] thisday.
"Becauseyou have burnedsacrificesand have sinnedagainst the LORDand not obeyedthe voiceof the LORDor walkedin His law,His statutesor His testimonies,thereforethiscalamityhas befallenyou, as [it has] thisday."
"Then I will make to ceasefrom the citiesof Judahand from the streetsof Jerusalemthe voiceof joyand the voiceof gladness,the voiceof the bridegroomand the voiceof the bride;for the landwill becomea ruin.
"And deathwill be chosenratherthanlifeby allthe remnantthat remainsof thisevilfamily,that remainsin allthe placesto whichI have driventhem," declaresthe LORDof hosts.
"I will makeJerusalema heapof ruins, A hauntof jackals;And I will makethe citiesof Judaha desolation,withoutinhabitant."
Howlonelysitsthe cityThat was fullof people!She has becomelike a widowWhowas [once] greatamong the nations!She who was a princessamong the provincesHas becomea forcedlaborer!
"For thesethingsI weep;My eyesrundownwith water;Becausefarfrom me is a comforter,One who restoresmy soul.My childrenare desolateBecausethe enemyhas prevailed."
Becauseof MountZionwhichliesdesolate,Foxesprowlin it.
"Thus He has confirmedHis wordswhichHe had spokenagainstus and againstour rulerswhoruledus, to bringon us greatcalamity;for underthe wholeheaventhere has not been done[anything] like whatwas doneto Jerusalem.
I will laywasteyour citiesas well and will makeyour sanctuariesdesolate,and I will not smellyour soothingaromas.
For the landwill be abandonedby them, and will makeup for its sabbathswhile it is madedesolatewithoutthem. They, meanwhile, will be makingamendsfor their iniquity,becausethey rejectedMy ordinancesand their soulabhorredMy statutes.
Therefore,on accountof you Zionwill be plowedas a field,Jerusalemwill becomea heapof ruins,And the mountainof the temple[will become] highplacesof a forest.
"But did not My wordsand My statutes,whichI commandedMy servantsthe prophets,overtakeyour fathers?Then they repentedand said,As the LORDof hostspurposedto doto us in accordance with our waysand our deeds,soHe has dealtwith us.'"'"
And MosessummonedallIsraeland saidto them, "You have seenallthat the LORDdidbefore your eyesin the landof Egyptto Pharaohand allhis servantsand allhis land;
"And you have seenallthat the LORDyour Godhas doneto allthesenationsbecauseof you, for the LORDyour Godis He who has been fightingfor you.
