For the LORDhas ransomedJacobAnd redeemedhim from the handof him whowas strongerthanhe.
"Giveheedto my cry,For I am broughtverylow;Deliverme from my persecutors,For they are toostrongfor me.
"Terrorand dreadfallupon them; By the greatnessof Your armthey are motionlessas stone;UntilYour peoplepassover,O LORD,Untilthe peoplepassoverwhomYou have purchased.
Shoutfor joy,O heavens,for the LORDhas done[it]! Shoutjoyfully,you lowerpartsof the earth;Breakforthinto a shoutof joy,you mountains,O forest,and everytreein it; For the LORDhas redeemedJacobAnd in IsraelHe showsforth His glory.
Goforthfrom Babylon!Fleefrom the Chaldeans!Declarewith the soundof joyfulshouting,proclaimthis,Sendit out to the endof the earth;Say,"The LORDhas redeemedHis servantJacob."
"Can the preybe takenfrom the mightyman,Orthe captivesof a tyrant be rescued?"
Surely,thussaysthe LORD,"Eventhe captivesof the mightymanwill be takenaway, And the preyof the tyrantwill be rescued;For I will contendwith the onewhocontendswith you, And I will saveyour sons.
So the ransomedof the LORDwill returnAnd comewith joyfulshoutingto Zion,And everlastingjoy[will be] on their heads.They will obtaingladnessand joy,And sorrowand sighingwill fleeaway.
"So I will deliveryou from the handof the wicked,And I will redeemyou from the graspof the violent."
Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,"The sonsof Israelare oppressed,And the sonsof Judahas well;And allwho tookthem captivehave heldthem fast,They have refusedto letthem go.
"Their Redeemeris strong,the LORDof hostsis His name;He will vigorouslypleadtheir caseSothat He may bringrestto the earth,But turmoilto the inhabitantsof Babylon.
O Lord,You have pleadedmy soul'scause;You have redeemedmy life.
Shall I ransomthem from the powerof Sheol?Shall I redeemthem from death?O Death,whereare your thorns?O Sheol,whereis your sting?Compassionwill be hiddenfrom My sight.
And the LORDtheir Godwill savethem in that dayAs the flockof His people;For [they are as] the stonesof a crown,Sparklingin His land.
"Orhowcananyoneenterthe strongman'shouseand carry offhis property,unlesshe firstbindsthe strong[man]? And thenhe will plunderhis house.
justas the Sonof Mandid not cometo be served,but to serve,and to giveHis lifea ransomfor many."
But Jesusansweredand saidto them, "You are mistaken,not understandingthe Scripturesnorthe powerof God.
whogaveHimselffor us to redeemus from everylawless deed,and to purifyfor Himselfa peoplefor His ownpossession,zealousfor gooddeeds.
