"The windwill sweepawayallyour shepherds,And your loverswill gointo captivity;Thenyou will surelybe ashamedand humiliatedBecauseof allyour wickedness.
For allof us have becomelike one who is unclean,And allour righteousdeedsare like a filthygarment; And allof us witherlike a leaf,And our iniquities, like the wind, takeus away.
Therefore, thussaysthe LordGOD,"Behold,My servantswill eat,but you will be hungry.Behold,My servantswill drink, but you will be thirsty.Behold,My servantswill rejoice, but you will be putto shame.
For the shepherdshave becomestupidAnd have not soughtthe LORD;Thereforethey have not prospered,And alltheir flockis scattered.
"Manyshepherdshave ruinedMy vineyard,They have trampleddownMy field; They have madeMy pleasantfieldA desolatewilderness.
"Whydo you goaround somuchChangingyour way? Also, you will be putto shameby EgyptAs you were putto shameby Assyria.
"From this[place] alsoyou will goout With your handson your head; For the LORDhas rejectedthose in whomyou trust,And you will not prosperwith them."
"The priestsdid not say,'Whereis the LORD?'And those who handlethe lawdid not knowMe; The rulersalso transgressedagainst Me, And the prophetsprophesiedby BaalAnd walkedafterthings that did not profit.
But the LORDis with me like a dreadchampion;Thereforemy persecutorswill stumbleand not prevail. They will be utterlyashamed, becausethey have failed,With an everlastingdisgracethat will not be forgotten.
Allyour lovershave forgottenyou, They do not seekyou; For I have woundedyou with the woundof an enemy,With the punishmentof a cruelone,Becauseyour iniquityis great[And] your sinsare numerous.
And you, O desolateone, whatwill you do?Althoughyou dressin scarlet,Althoughyou decorate[yourself with] ornamentsof gold,Althoughyou enlargeyour eyeswith paint,In vainyou makeyourself beautiful.[Your] loversdespiseyou; They seekyour life.
"The prophetsare [as] wind,And the wordis not in them. Thusit will be doneto them!"
"Do they spiteMe?" declaresthe LORD."Is it not themselves [they spite], to their ownshame?"
Ephraimfeedson wind,And pursuesthe eastwindcontinually; He multipliesliesand violence. Moreover, he makesa covenantwith Assyria,And oilis carriedto Egypt.
Thoughhe flourishesamongthe reeds,An eastwindwill come,The windof the LORDcomingup from the wilderness; And his fountainwill becomedryAnd his springwill be driedup; It will plunder[his] treasuryof everypreciousarticle.
The windwrapsthem in its wings,And they will be ashamedbecauseof their sacrifices.
"Woeto the worthlessshepherdWho leavesthe flock!A swordwill be on his armAnd on his righteye! His armwill be totallywitheredAnd his righteyewill be blind."
Then I annihilatedthe threeshepherdsin onemonth, for my soulwas impatientwith them, and their soulalsowas wearyof me.
