For You shall breakthe yokeof their burdenand the staffon their shoulders,The rodof their oppressor,as at the battleof Midian.
"By your swordyou shall live,And your brotheryou shall serve;But it shall comeabout whenyou becomerestless,That you will breakhis yokefrom your neck."
For the scepterof wickednessshall not restupon the landof the righteous,So that the righteouswill not putforththeir handsto do wrong.
"I relievedhis shoulderof the burden,His handswere freedfrom the basket.
Thereforethe Lord,the GODof hosts,will senda wastingdiseaseamong his stoutwarriors;And underhis glorya firewill be kindledlike a burningflame.
Woeto Assyria,the rodof My angerAnd the staffin whose handsis My indignation,
to breakAssyriain My land,and I will tramplehim on My mountains.Then his yokewill be removedfrom them and his burdenremovedfrom their shoulder.
"Let the outcastsof Moabstaywith you; Be a hidingplaceto them from the destroyer."For the extortionerhas cometo an end,destructionhas ceased,Oppressorshave completely[disappeared] from the land.
"I was angrywith My people,I profanedMy heritageAnd gavethem into your hand.You did not showmercyto them, On the agedyou madeyour yokeveryheavy.
"I will feedyour oppressorswith their own flesh,And they will becomedrunkwith their own bloodas with sweetwine;And allfleshwill knowthat I, the LORD,am your SaviorAnd your Redeemer,the MightyOneof Jacob."
That you have forgottenthe LORDyour Maker,Who stretchedout the heavensAnd laidthe foundationsof the earth,That you fearcontinuallyalldaylong becauseof the furyof the oppressor,As he makesreadyto destroy?But whereis the furyof the oppressor?
Shakeyourself from the dust,riseup, O captiveJerusalem;Looseyourself from the chainsaround your neck,O captivedaughterof Zion.
"In righteousnessyou will be established;You will be farfrom oppression,for you will not fear;And from terror,for it will not comenearyou.
For everybootof the bootedwarriorin the [battle] tumult,And cloakrolledin blood,will be for burning,fuelfor the fire.
It shall comeabout on that day,'declaresthe LORDof hosts,that I will breakhis yokefrom offtheir neckand will tearofftheir bonds;and strangerswill nolongermakethem their slaves.
"Mournfor him, allyou who [live] aroundhim, Even allof you who knowhis name;Say,'Howhas the mightyscepterbeen broken,A staffof splendor!'
I am the LORDyour God,whobroughtyou out of the landof Egyptsothat [you] would not be their slaves,and I brokethe barsof your yokeand made you walkerect.
"So now,I will breakhis yokebarfrom upon you, And I will tearoffyour shackles."
