In my earsthe LORDof hosts[has sworn], "Surely,manyhousesshall becomedesolate,[Even] greatand fineones,withoutoccupants.
to fulfillthe wordof the LORDby the mouthof Jeremiah,untilthe landhad enjoyedits sabbaths.Allthe daysof its desolationit keptsabbathuntil seventyyearswere complete.
"He has livedin desolatecities,In housesnoone would inhabit,Whichare destinedto become ruins.
"Nothingremainsfor him to devour,Thereforehis prosperitydoes not endure.
He who profitsillicitlytroubleshis own house,But he who hatesbribeswill live.
But the LORDof hostsrevealedHimself to me, "Surelythisiniquityshall not be forgivenyou Untilyou die,"saysthe LordGODof hosts.
For the fortifiedcityis isolated,A homesteadforlornand forsakenlike the desert;Therethe calfwill graze,And thereit will liedownand feedon its branches.
"I will layit waste;It will not be prunedor hoed,But briarsand thornswill comeup. I will also chargethe cloudsto rainnorainon it."
Surelythe LordGODdoesnothingUnlessHe revealsHis secretcounselTo His servantsthe prophets.
Thereforebecauseyou imposeheavyrenton the poorAnd exacta tributeof grainfrom them, [Though] you have builthousesof well-hewnstone,Yet you will not livein them; You have plantedpleasantvineyards,yet you will not drinktheir wine.
For behold,the LORDis going to commandthat the greathousebe smashedto piecesand the smallhouseto fragments.
"But the kingwas enraged,and he senthis armiesand destroyedthosemurderersand settheir cityon fire.
"Behold,your houseis being leftto you desolate!
Behold,the payof the laborerswho mowedyour fields,[and] which has been withheldby you, criesout [against you]; and the outcryof thosewho did the harvestinghas reachedthe earsof the Lordof Sabaoth.
