Who were destroyedat En-dor,Who becameas dungfor the ground.
Madmenahhas fled.The inhabitantsof Gebimhave soughtrefuge.
I sendit against a godlessnationAnd commissionit againstthe peopleof My furyTo capturebootyand to seizeplunder,And to tramplethem downlike mudin the streets.
Then in that dayThe nationswill resortto the rootof Jesse,Whowill standas a signalfor the peoples;And His restingplacewill be glorious.
They will swoopdownon the slopesof the Philistineson the west;Togetherthey will plunderthe sonsof the east;They will possessEdomand Moab,And the sonsof Ammonwill be subjectto them.
Cryaloudand shoutfor joy,O inhabitantof Zion,For greatin your midstis the HolyOneof Israel.
"But you have been castout of your tombLike a rejectedbranch,Clothedwith the slainwho are piercedwith a sword,Who godownto the stonesof the pitLike a trampledcorpse.
But nowthe LORDspeaks,saying,"Within threeyears,as a hiredmanwould countthem, the gloryof Moabwill be degradedalong with all[his] greatpopulation,and [his] remnantwill be verysmall[and] impotent."
We have heardof the prideof Moab,an excessivepride;[Even] of his arrogance,pride,and fury;His idleboastsare false.
For thusthe LORDhas toldme, "I will lookfrom My dwellingplacequietlyLike dazzlingheatin the sunshine,Like a cloudof dewin the heatof harvest."
The LORDof hostswill preparea lavishbanquetfor allpeopleson thismountain;A banquetof agedwine,choicepieces with marrow,[And] refined,agedwine.
"The footwill trampleit, The feetof the afflicted,the stepsof the helpless."
On thisaccountthe angerof the LORDhas burnedagainst His people,And He has stretchedout His handagainstthem and struckthem down.And the mountainsquaked,and their corpseslaylike refusein the middleof the streets.For allthisHis angeris not spent,But His handis stillstretchedout.
Concerning Moab.Thussaysthe LORDof hosts,the Godof Israel,"Woeto Nebo,for it has been destroyed;Kiriathaimhas beenputto shame,it has been captured;The loftystrongholdhas beenputto shameand shattered.
"Thereis praisefor Moabnolonger;In Heshbonthey have devisedcalamityagainsther: 'Comeand let us cuther offfrom [being] a nation!'You too,Madmen,will be silenced;The swordwill followafteryou.
"The Lordhas rejectedallmy strongmenIn my midst;He has calledan appointedtimeagainstme To crushmy youngmen;The Lordhas trodden[as in] a winepressThe virgindaughterof Judah.
