For a cupis in the handof the LORD,and the winefoams;It is wellmixed,and He poursout of this;Surelyallthe wickedof the earthmust drain[and] drinkdownits dregs.
The wisewill inherithonor,But foolsdisplaydishonor.
sothe kingof Assyriawill leadawaythe captivesof Egyptand the exilesof Cush,youngand old,nakedand barefootwith buttocksuncovered,to the shameof Egypt.
"Your nakednesswill be uncovered,Your shamealsowill be exposed;I will takevengeanceand will not sparea man."
"I will feedyour oppressorswith their own flesh,And they will becomedrunkwith their own bloodas with sweetwine;And allfleshwill knowthat I, the LORD,am your SaviorAnd your Redeemer,the MightyOneof Jacob."
For thusthe LORD,the Godof Israel,saysto me, "Takethiscupof the wineof wrathfrom My handand cause allthe nationsto whomI sendyou to drinkit.
Then I tookthe cupfrom the LORD'Shandand made allthe nationsto whomthe LORDsentme drinkit:
"I will makeher princesand her wisemendrunk,Her governors,her prefectsand her mightymen,That they may sleepa perpetualsleepand not wakeup," Declaresthe King,whose nameis the LORDof hosts.
Babylonhas been a goldencupin the handof the LORD,Intoxicatingallthe earth.The nationshave drunkof her wine;Thereforethe nationsare goingmad.
Rejoiceand be glad,O daughterof Edom,Who dwellsin the landof Uz;[But] the cupwill comearoundto you as well,You will becomedrunkand makeyourself naked.
You will be filledwith drunkennessand sorrow,The cupof horrorand desolation,The cupof your sisterSamaria.
The more they multiplied,the morethey sinnedagainst Me; I will changetheir gloryinto shame.
On the dayof our king,the princesbecamesickwith the heatof wine;He stretchedout his handwith scoffers,
"You have deviseda shamefulthingfor your houseBy cuttingoffmanypeoples;So you are sinningagainst yourself.
"Woeto you who make your neighborsdrink,Who mixin your venomevento make[them] drunkSoas to lookon their nakedness!
whoseendis destruction,whosegodis [their] appetite,and [whose] gloryis in their shame,who set their mindson earthly things.
"Payher backevenas she has paid,and give back [to her] doubleaccordingto her deeds;in the cupwhichshe has mixed,mixtwice as muchfor her.
