"But they rebelledagainst Me and were not willingto listento Me; they did not castawaythe detestablethingsof their eyes,nordid they forsakethe idolsof Egypt.Then I resolvedto pourout My wrathon them, to accomplishMy angeragainst them in the midstof the landof Egypt.
"But they becamedisobedientand rebelledagainst You, And castYour lawbehindtheir backsAnd killedYour prophetswhohad admonishedthem So that they might returnto You, And they committedgreatblasphemies.
Therefore He saidthat He would destroythem, Had not MosesHis chosenone stoodin the breachbeforeHim, To turnawayHis wrathfrom destroying[them].
Pourout Your indignationon them, And may Your burningangerovertakethem.
Yet they stillcontinuedto sinagainst Him, To rebelagainst the MostHighin the desert.
And not be like their fathers,A stubbornand rebelliousgeneration,A generationthat did not prepareits heartAnd whose spiritwas not faithfulto God.
"So I gavethem overto the stubbornnessof their heart,To walkin their own devices.
Now when the peoplesawthat Mosesdelayedto comedownfrom the mountain,the peopleassembledaboutAaronand saidto him, "Come,makeus a godwhowill gobeforeus; as for thisMoses,the manwhobroughtus up from the landof Egypt,we do not knowwhathas becomeof him."
But they rebelledAnd grievedHis HolySpirit;Therefore He turnedHimself to become their enemy,He foughtagainst them.
Yet they didnot obeyor inclinetheir ear,but walked,eachone,in the stubbornnessof his evilheart;therefore I broughton them allthe wordsof thiscovenant,whichI commanded[them] to do,but they didnot.'"
They camein and tookpossessionof it, but they did not obeyYour voiceor walkin Your law;they have donenothingof allthat You commandedthem to do;therefore You have made allthiscalamitycomeupon them.
"Yet they did not obeyor inclinetheir ear,but walkedin [their own] counsels[and] in the stubbornnessof their evilheart,and wentbackwardand not forward.
"But the houseof Israelrebelledagainst Me in the wilderness.They did not walkin My statutesand they rejectedMy ordinances,by which,if a manobservesthem, he will live;and My sabbathsthey greatlyprofaned.Then I resolvedto pourout My wrathon them in the wilderness,to annihilatethem.
becausethey rejectedMy ordinances,and as for My statutes,they did not walkin them; they even profanedMy sabbaths,for their heartcontinually wentaftertheir idols.
"But the childrenrebelledagainst Me; they did not walkin My statutes,norwere they carefulto observeMy ordinances,by which,[if] a manobservesthem, he will live;they profanedMy sabbaths.So I resolvedto pourout My wrathon them, to accomplishMy angeragainst them in the wilderness.
"I saidto them, 'Castaway,eachof you, the detestablethingsof his eyes,and do not defileyourselves with the idolsof Egypt;I am the LORDyour God.'
As silveris meltedin the furnace,soyou will be meltedin the midstof it; and you will knowthat I, the LORD,have pouredout My wrathon you.'"
and they playedthe harlotin Egypt.They playedthe harlotin their youth;theretheir breastswere pressedand theretheir virginbosomwas handled.
Thus My angerwill be spentand I will satisfyMy wrathon them, and I will be appeased;then they will knowthat I, the LORD,have spokenin My zealwhen I have spentMy wrathupon them.
NowI will shortlypourout My wrathon you and spendMy angeragainst you; judgeyou according to your waysand bringon you allyour abominations.
I foundIsraellike grapesin the wilderness;I sawyour forefathersas the earliestfruiton the figtreein its first[season]. [But] they cameto Baal-peorand devotedthemselves to shame,And they becameas detestableas that whichthey loved.
You shall not dowhatis donein the landof Egyptwhereyou lived,norare you to dowhatis donein the landof CanaanwhereI am bringingyou; you shall not walkin their statutes.
"You have beenrebelliousagainstthe LORDfrom the dayI knewyou.
"Remember,do not forgethowyou provokedthe LORDyour Godto wrathin the wilderness;from the daythat you leftthe landof Egyptuntilyou arrivedat thisplace,you have beenrebelliousagainstthe LORD.
