The LordgaveJehoiakimkingof Judahinto his hand,along with someof the vesselsof the houseof God;and he broughtthem to the landof Shinar,to the houseof his god,and he broughtthe vesselsinto the treasuryof his god.
The beginningof his kingdomwas Babeland Erechand Accadand Calneh,in the landof Shinar.
It cameabout as they journeyedeast,that they founda plainin the landof Shinarand settledthere.
In his daysNebuchadnezzarkingof Babyloncameup, and Jehoiakimbecamehis servant[for] threeyears;then he turnedand rebelledagainst him.
Jehoiakimwas twenty-fiveyearsoldwhen he becameking,and he reignedelevenyearsin Jerusalem;and he didevilin the sightof the LORDhis God.
Nebuchadnezzaralso brought[some] of the articlesof the houseof the LORDto Babylonand putthem in his templeat Babylon.
Also KingCyrusbroughtout the articlesof the houseof the LORD,whichNebuchadnezzarhad carriedawayfrom Jerusalemand putin the houseof his gods;
Then it will happenon that daythat the LordWill againrecoverthe secondtimewith His handThe remnantof His people,whowill remain,From Assyria,Egypt,Pathros,Cush,Elam,Shinar,Hamath,And from the islandsof the sea.
WhogaveJacobup for spoil,and Israelto plunderers?Was it not the LORD,against whomwe have sinned,And in whose waysthey were not willingto walk,And whose lawthey did not obey?
The wordthat cameto Jeremiahconcerningallthe peopleof Judah,in the fourthyearof Jehoiakimthe sonof Josiah,kingof Judah(that was the firstyearof Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babylon),
[Then] I spoketo the priestsand to allthispeople,saying,"Thussaysthe LORD:Do not listento the wordsof your prophetswho prophesyto you, saying,'Behold,the vesselsof the LORD'Shousewill nowshortlybe broughtagainfrom Babylon;for they are prophesyinga lieto you.
WithintwoyearsI am going to bringbackto thisplaceallthe vesselsof the LORD'Shouse,whichNebuchadnezzarkingof Babylontookawayfrom thisplaceand carriedto Babylon.
"But when Nebuchadnezzarkingof Babyloncameup againstthe land,we said,'Comeand let us goto Jerusalembeforethe armyof the Chaldeansand beforethe armyof the Arameans.'So we have dweltin Jerusalem."
"Declareand proclaimamong the nations.Proclaimit and liftup a standard.Do not conceal[it but] say,Babylonhas been captured,Belhas beenputto shame,Mardukhas beenshattered;Her imageshave beenputto shame,her idolshave beenshattered.'
"I will punishBelin Babylon,And I will make whathe has swallowedcomeout of his mouth;And the nationswill nolongerstreamto him. Eventhe wallof Babylonhas fallendown!
ThenDanielwas broughtin beforethe king.The kingspokeand saidto Daniel,"Are you that Danielwhois one of the exilesfrom Judah,whommy fatherthe kingbroughtfrom Judah?
"O king,the MostHighGodgrantedsovereignty,grandeur,gloryand majestyto Nebuchadnezzaryour father.
Thereforethey offera sacrificeto their netAnd burnincenseto their fishingnet;Becausethrough thesethingstheir catchis large,And their foodis plentiful.
Then he saidto me, "To builda templefor her in the landof Shinar;and when it is prepared,she will be setthereon her own pedestal."
"Howcould onechasea thousand,And twoputtenthousandto flight,Unlesstheir Rockhad soldthem, And the LORDhad giventhem up?
The angerof the LORDburnedagainst Israel,and He gavethem into the handsof plundererswho plunderedthem; and He soldthem into the handsof their enemiesaround[them], so that they couldnolongerstandbeforetheir enemies.
Then the angerof the LORDwas kindledagainst Israel,so that He soldthem into the handsof Cushan-rishathaimkingof Mesopotamia;and the sonsof IsraelservedCushan-rishathaimeightyears.
And the LORDsoldthem into the handof Jabinkingof Canaan,whoreignedin Hazor;and the commanderof his armywas Sisera,wholivedin Harosheth-hagoyim.
Then the Philistinestookthe arkof Godand broughtit to the houseof Dagonand setit by Dagon.
