Now MountSinai[was] allin smokebecausethe LORDdescendedupon it in fire;and its smokeascendedlike the smokeof a furnace,and the wholemountainquakedviolently.
Thenthe king'sfacegrewpaleand his thoughtsalarmedhim, and his hipjointswentslackand his kneesbegan knockingtogether.

Eachstoodin his placearoundthe camp;and allthe armyran,cryingout as they fled.
And the raiderscamefrom the campof the Philistinesin threecompanies:onecompanyturnedtowardOphrah,to the landof Shual,
and anothercompanyturnedtowardBeth-horon,and anothercompanyturnedtowardthe borderwhich overlooksthe valleyof Zeboimtoward the wilderness.
And the garrisonof the Philistineswentout to the passof Michmash.
That firstslaughterwhichJonathanand his armorbearermadewas about twentymenwithin about halfa furrowin an acreof land.
Now Saul'swatchmenin Gibeahof Benjaminlooked,and behold,the multitudemeltedaway;and they wenthereand [there].
Now Samuelwas offeringup the burntoffering,and the Philistinesdrewnearto battleagainst Israel.But the LORDthunderedwith a greatthunderon that dayagainstthe Philistinesand confusedthem, so that they were routedbeforeIsrael.
