So Davidlivedin the strongholdand calledit the cityof David.And Davidbuiltallaroundfrom the Milloand inward.
Now thiswas the reasonwhyhe rebelledagainst the king:Solomonbuiltthe Millo,[and] closedup the breachof the cityof his fatherDavid.
"Your fathermadeour yokehard;nowtherefore lightenthe hardserviceof your fatherand his heavyyokewhichhe puton us, and we will serveyou."
Then Solomonformeda marriagealliancewith Pharaohkingof Egypt,and tookPharaoh'sdaughterand broughther to the cityof Daviduntilhe had finishedbuildinghis own houseand the houseof the LORDand the wallaroundJerusalem.
Baanathe sonof Ahilud,[in] Taanachand Megiddo,and allBeth-sheanwhichis besideZarethanbelowJezreel,from Beth-sheanto Abel-meholahas faras the othersideof Jokmeam;
Now KingSolomonleviedforcedlaborersfrom allIsrael;and the forcedlaborersnumbered30000men.
In the eleventhyear,in the monthof Bul,whichis the eighthmonth,the housewas finishedthroughout allits partsand according to allits plans.So he was sevenyearsin buildingit.
It cameabout at the endof twentyyearsin whichSolomonhad builtthe twohouses,the houseof the LORDand the king'shouse
their descendantswhowere leftafterthem in the landwhomthe sonsof Israelwere unableto destroyutterly,from them Solomonleviedforcedlaborers,evento thisday.
As soonas Pharaoh'sdaughtercameup from the cityof Davidto her housewhich[Solomon] had builtfor her, thenhe builtthe Millo.
His servantsaroseand madea conspiracyand struckdownJoashat the houseof Millo[as he was] goingdownto Silla.
In the daysof Pekahkingof Israel,Tiglath-pileserkingof Assyriacameand capturedIjonand Abel-beth-maacahand Janoahand Kedeshand Hazorand Gileadand Galilee,allthe landof Naphtali;and he carriedthem captiveto Assyria.
When Ahaziahthe kingof Judahsaw[this], he fledby the wayof the gardenhouse.And Jehupursuedhim and said,"Shoothim too,in the chariot."[So they shot him] at the ascentof Gur,whichis at Ibleam.But he fledto Megiddoand diedthere.
Now it cameabout afterthis,that warbrokeout at Gezerwith the Philistines;thenSibbecaithe HushathitekilledSippai,one of the descendantsof the giants,and they were subdued.
They gaveto them the [following] citiesof refuge:Shechemin the hillcountryof Ephraimwith its pasturelands,Gezeralso with its pasturelands,
However, Josiahwould not turnawayfrom him, but disguisedhimself in order to makewarwith him; nordid he listento the wordsof Necofrom the mouthof God,but cameto makewaron the plainof Megiddo.
Now it cameabout at the endof the twentyyearsin whichSolomonhad builtthe houseof the LORDand his own house
By Your favordogoodto Zion;Buildthe wallsof Jerusalem.
"In that daythere will be greatmourningin Jerusalem,like the mourningof Hadadrimmonin the plainof Megiddo.
ThenHoramkingof Gezercameup to helpLachish,and Joshuadefeatedhim and his peopleuntilhe had lefthim nosurvivor.
Then it cameabout, when Jabinkingof Hazorheard[of it], that he sentto Jobabkingof Madonand to the kingof Shimronand to the kingof Achshaph,
But they did not driveout the Canaaniteswho livedin Gezer,so the Canaaniteslivein the midstof Ephraimto thisday,and they becameforcedlaborers.
It wentdownwestwardto the territoryof the Japhletites,as faras the territoryof lowerBeth-horoneven to Gezer,and it endedat the sea.
In Issacharand in Asher,ManassehhadBeth-sheanand its townsand Ibleamand its towns,and the inhabitantsof Dorand its towns,and the inhabitantsof En-dorand its towns,and the inhabitantsof Taanachand its towns,and the inhabitantsof Megiddoand its towns,the thirdis Napheth.
and Adamahand Ramahand Hazor,
They gavethem Shechem,the cityof refugefor the manslayer,with its pasturelands,in the hillcountryof Ephraim,and Gezerwith its pasturelands,
Ephraimdid not driveout the Canaaniteswho were livingin Gezer;so the Canaaniteslivedin Gezeramongthem.
And the LORDsoldthem into the handof Jabinkingof Canaan,whoreignedin Hazor;and the commanderof his armywas Sisera,wholivedin Harosheth-hagoyim.
"The kingscame[and] fought;Thenfoughtthe kingsof CanaanAt Taanachnearthe watersof Megiddo;They tooknoplunderin silver.
"But ifnot, let firecomeout from Abimelechand consumethe menof Shechemand Beth-millo;and let firecomeout from the menof Shechemand from Beth-millo,and consumeAbimelech."
Allthe menof Shechemand allBeth-milloassembledtogether, and they wentand madeAbimelechking,by the oakof the pillarwhichwas in Shechem.
