² H5375For they have taken[H8804] H1323of their daughtersH1121for themselves, and for their sonsH6944: so that the holyH2233seedH6148have mingled[H8694] H5971themselves with the peopleH776of those landsH3027: yea, the handH8269of the princesH5461and rulersH7223hath been chiefH4604in this trespass.

³ H8085And when I heard[H8800] H1697this thingH7167, I rent[H8804] H899my garmentH4598and my mantleH4803, and plucked off[H8799] H8181the hairH7218of my headH2206and of my beardH3427, and sat down[H8799] H8074astonied[H8789] .

⁵ H6153And at the eveningH4503sacrificeH6965I arose up[H8804] H8589from my heavinessH7167; and having rent[H8800] H899my garmentH4598and my mantleH3766, I fell[H8799] H1290upon my kneesH6566, and spread out[H8799] H3709my handsH3068unto the LORDH430my God,

⁶ H559And said[H8799] H430, O my GodH954, I am ashamed[H8804] H3637and blush[H8738] H7311to lift up[H8687] H6440my faceH430to thee, my GodH5771: for our iniquitiesH7235are increased[H8804] H4605overH7218our headH819, and our trespassH1431is grown up[H8804] H8064unto the heavens.

⁷ H3117Since the daysH1of our fathersH1419have we been in a greatH819trespassH3117unto this dayH5771; and for our iniquitiesH4428have we, our kingsH3548, and our priestsH5414, been delivered[H8738] H3027into the handH4428of the kingsH776of the landsH2719, to the swordH7628, to captivityH961, and to a spoilH1322, and to confusionH6440of faceH3117, as it is this day.

⁸ H4592And now for a littleH7281spaceH8467graceH3068hath been shewed from the LORDH430our GodH7604, to leave[H8687] H6413us a remnant to escapeH5414, and to give[H8800] H3489us a nailH6944in his holyH4725placeH430, that our GodH215may lighten[H8687] H5869our eyesH5414, and give[H8800] H4592us a littleH4241revivingH5659in our bondage.

⁹ H5650For we were bondmenH430; yet our GodH5800hath not forsaken[H8804] H5659us in our bondageH5186, but hath extended[H8686] H2617mercyH6440unto us in the sightH4428of the kingsH6539of PersiaH5414, to give[H8800] H4241us a revivingH7311, to set up[H8788] H1004the houseH430of our GodH5975, and to repair[H8687] H2723the desolationsH5414thereof, and to give[H8800] H1447us a wallH3063in JudahH3389and in Jerusalem.

¹⁰ H430And now, O our GodH559, what shall we say[H8799] H310afterH5800this? for we have forsaken[H8804] H4687thy commandments,

¹¹ H6680Which thou hast commanded[H8765] H3027byH5650thy servantsH5030the prophetsH559, saying[H8800] H776, The landH935, unto which ye go[H8802] H3423to possess[H8800] H5079it, is an uncleanH776landH5079with the filthinessH5971of the peopleH776of the landsH8441, with their abominationsH4390, which have filled[H8765] H6310it from one endH6310to anotherH2932with their uncleanness.

¹² H5414Now therefore give[H8799] H1323not your daughtersH1121unto their sonsH5375, neither take[H8799] H1323their daughtersH1121unto your sonsH1875, nor seek[H8799] H7965their peaceH2896or their wealthH5704forH5769everH2388: that ye may be strong[H8799] H398, and eat[H8804] H2898the goodH776of the landH3423, and leave it for an inheritance[H8689] H1121to your childrenH5769for ever.

¹⁴ H7725Should we again[H8799] H6565break[H8687] H4687thy commandmentsH2859, and join in affinity[H8692] H5971with the peopleH8441of these abominationsH599? wouldest not thou be angry[H8799] H3615with us till thou hadst consumed[H8763] H7611us, so that there should be no remnantH6413nor escaping?
