2 Samuel 15 - King James Bible with Strong Numbers

1 H310And it came to pass after thisH53, that AbsalomH6213prepared[H8799] H4818him chariotsH5483and horsesH2572, and fiftyH376menH7323to run[H8801] H6440before him.

2 H53And AbsalomH7925rose up early[H8689] H5975, and stood[H8804] H3027besideH1870the wayH8179of the gateH376: and it was so, that when any manH7379that had a controversyH935came[H8800] H4428to the kingH4941for judgmentH53, then AbsalomH7121called[H8799] H559unto him, and said[H8799] H335, Of whatH5892cityH559art thou? And he said[H8799] H5650, Thy servantH259is of oneH7626of the tribesH3478of Israel.

3 H53And AbsalomH559said[H8799] H7200unto him, See[H8798] H1697, thy mattersH2896are goodH5228and rightH4428; but there is no man deputed of the kingH8085to hear[H8802]  thee.

4 H53AbsalomH559said[H8799] H7760moreover, Oh that I were made[H8799] H8199judge[H8802] H776in the landH376, that every manH7379which hath any suitH4941or causeH935might come[H8799] H6663unto me, and I would do him justice[H8689] !

5 H376And it was so, that when any manH7126came nigh[H8800] H7812to him to do him obeisance[H8692] H7971, he put forth[H8804] H3027his handH2388, and took[H8689] H5401him, and kissed[H8804]  him.

6 H1697And on this mannerH6213did[H8799] H53AbsalomH3478to all IsraelH935that came[H8799] H4428to the kingH4941for judgmentH53: so AbsalomH1589stole[H8762] H3820the heartsH582of the menH3478of Israel.

7 H7093And it came to pass afterH705fortyH8141yearsH53, that AbsalomH559said[H8799] H4428unto the kingH3212, I pray thee, let me go[H8799] H7999and pay[H8762] H5088my vowH5087, which I have vowed[H8804] H3068unto the LORDH2275, in Hebron.

8 H5650For thy servantH5087vowed[H8804] H5088a vowH3427while I abode[H8800] H1650at GeshurH758in SyriaH559, saying[H8800] H3068, If the LORDH7725shall bring me again[H8799] [H8676] H7725 [H8686] H3389indeed to JerusalemH5647, then I will serve[H8804] H3068the LORD.

9 H4428And the kingH559said[H8799] H3212unto him, Go[H8798] H7965in peaceH6965. So he arose[H8799] H3212, and went[H8799] H2275to Hebron.

10 H53But AbsalomH7971sent[H8799] H7270spies[H8764] H7626throughout all the tribesH3478of IsraelH559, saying[H8800] H8085, As soon as ye hear[H8800] H6963the soundH7782of the trumpetH559, then ye shall say[H8804] H53, AbsalomH4427reigneth[H8804] H2275in Hebron.

11 H53And with AbsalomH1980went[H8804] H3967two hundredH376menH3389out of JerusalemH7121, that were called[H8803] H1980; and they went[H8802] H8537in their simplicityH3045, and they knew[H8804] H1697not any thing.

12 H53And AbsalomH7971sent[H8799] H302for AhithophelH1526the GiloniteH1732, David'sH3289counsellor[H8802] H5892, from his cityH1542, even from GilohH2076, while he offered[H8800] H2077sacrificesH7195. And the conspiracyH533was strongH5971; for the peopleH7227increasedH1980continually[H8802] H53with Absalom.

13 H935And there came[H8799] H5046a messenger[H8688] H1732to DavidH559, saying[H8800] H3820, The heartsH376of the menH3478of IsraelH310are afterH53Absalom.

14 H1732And DavidH559said[H8799] H5650unto all his servantsH3389that were with him at JerusalemH6965, Arise[H8798] H1272, and let us flee[H8799] H6413; for we shall not else escapeH6440fromH53AbsalomH4116: make speed[H8761] H3212to depart[H8800] H5381, lest he overtake[H8689] H4116us suddenly[H8762] H5080, and bring[H8689] H7451evilH5221upon us, and smite[H8689] H5892the cityH6310with the edgeH2719of the sword.

15 H4428And the king'sH5650servantsH559said[H8799] H4428unto the kingH5650, Behold, thy servantsH113are ready to do whatsoever my lordH4428the kingH977shall appoint[H8799] .

16 H4428And the kingH3318went forth[H8799] H1004, and all his householdH7272afterH4428him. And the kingH5800left[H8799] H6235tenH802womenH6370, which were concubinesH8104, to keep[H8800] H1004the house.

17 H4428And the kingH3318went forth[H8799] H5971, and all the peopleH7272afterH5975him, and tarried[H8799] H1004in a placeH4801that was far off[H8677] H1023 .

18 H5650And all his servantsH5674passed on[H8802] H3027besideH3774him; and all the CherethitesH6432, and all the PelethitesH1663, and all the GittitesH8337, sixH3967hundredH376menH935which came[H8804] H7272afterH1661him from GathH5674, passed on[H8802] H6440beforeH4428the king.

19 H559Then said[H8799] H4428the kingH863to IttaiH1663the GittiteH3212, Wherefore goest[H8799] H7725thou also with us? return[H8798] H4725to thy placeH3427, and abide[H8798] H4428with the kingH5237: for thou art a strangerH1540, and also an exile[H8802] .

20 H935Whereas thou camest[H8800] H8543but yesterdayH3117, should I this dayH3212make thee go[H8800] H5128up and down[H8686] [H8675] H5128 [H8799] H1980with us? seeing I go[H8802] H7725whither I may, return[H8798] H7725thou, and take back[H8685] H251thy brethrenH2617: mercyH571and truth be with thee.

21 H863And IttaiH6030answered[H8799] H4428the kingH559, and said[H8799] H3068, As the LORDH2416livethH113, and as my lordH4428the kingH2416livethH4725, surely in what placeH113my lordH4428the kingH4194shall be, whether in deathH2416or lifeH5650, even there also will thy servant be.

22 H1732And DavidH559said[H8799] H863to IttaiH3212, Go[H8798] H5674and pass over[H8798] H863. And IttaiH1663the GittiteH5674passed over[H8799] H582, and all his menH2945, and all the little ones that were with him.

23 H776And all the countryH1058wept[H8802] H1419with a loudH6963voiceH5971, and all the peopleH5674passed over[H8802] H4428: the kingH5674also himself passed over[H8802] H5158the brookH6939KidronH5971, and all the peopleH5674passed over[H8802] H6440, towardH1870the wayH4057of the wilderness.

24 H6659And lo ZadokH3881also, and all the LevitesH5375were with him, bearing[H8802] H727the arkH1285of the covenantH430of GodH3332: and they set down[H8686] H727the arkH430of GodH54; and AbiatharH5927went up[H8799] H5971, until all the peopleH8552had done[H8800] H5674passing[H8800] H5892out of the city.

25 H4428And the kingH559said[H8799] H6659unto ZadokH7725, Carry back[H8685] H727the arkH430of GodH5892into the cityH4672: if I shall find[H8799] H2580favourH5869in the eyesH3068of the LORDH7725, he will bring me again[H8689] H7200, and shew[H8689] H5116me both it, and his habitation:

26 H559But if he thus say[H8799] H2654, I have no delight[H8804] H6213in thee; behold, here am I, let him do[H8799] H5869to me as seemethH2896good unto him.

27 H4428The kingH559said[H8799] H6659also unto ZadokH3548the priestH7200, Art not thou a seer[H8802] H7725? return[H8798] H5892into the cityH7965in peaceH8147, and your twoH1121sonsH290with you, AhimaazH1121thy sonH3083, and JonathanH1121the sonH54of Abiathar.

28 H7200See[H8798] H4102, I will tarry[H8700] H6160in the plain[H8675] H5679 H4057of the wildernessH935, until there come[H8800] H1697wordH5046from you to certify[H8687]  me.

29 H6659ZadokH54therefore and AbiatharH7725carriedH727the arkH430of GodH7725again[H8686] H3389to JerusalemH3427: and they tarried[H8799]  there.

30 H1732And DavidH5927went up[H8802] H4608by the ascentH2132of mount OlivetH1058, and wept[H8802] H5927as he went up[H8802] H7218, and had his headH2645covered[H8802] H1980, and he went[H8802] H3182barefootH5971: and all the peopleH2645that was with him covered[H8804] H376every manH7218his headH5927, and they went up[H8804] H1058, weeping[H8800] H5927as they went up[H8800] .

31 H5046And one told[H8689] H1732DavidH559, saying[H8800] H302, AhithophelH7194is among the conspirators[H8802] H53with AbsalomH1732. And DavidH559said[H8799] H3068, O LORDH6098, I pray thee, turn the counselH302of AhithophelH5528into foolishness[H8761] .

32 H1732And it came to pass, that when DavidH935was come[H8804] H7218to the topH7812of the mount, where he worshipped[H8691] H430GodH2365, behold, HushaiH757the ArchiteH7125came to meet[H8800] H3801him with his coatH7167rent[H8803] H127, and earthH7218upon his head:

33 H1732Unto whom DavidH559said[H8799] H5674, If thou passest on[H8804] H4853with me, then thou shalt be a burden unto me:

34 H7725But if thou return[H8799] H5892to the cityH559, and say[H8804] H53unto AbsalomH5650, I will be thy servantH4428, O kingH1; as I have been thy father'sH5650servantH227hithertoH5650, so will I now also be thy servantH6565: then mayest thou for me defeat[H8689] H6098the counselH302of Ahithophel.

35 H6659And hast thou not there with thee ZadokH54and AbiatharH3548the priestsH1697? therefore it shall be, that what thingH8085soever thou shalt hear[H8799] H4428out of the king'sH1004houseH5046, thou shalt tell[H8686] H6659it to ZadokH54and AbiatharH3548the priests.

36 H8147Behold, they have there with them their twoH1121sonsH290, AhimaazH6659Zadok'sH3083son, and JonathanH54Abiathar'sH3027son; and by themH7971ye shall send[H8804] H1697unto me every thingH8085that ye can hear[H8799] .

37 H2365So HushaiH1732David'sH7463friendH935came[H8799] H5892into the cityH53, and AbsalomH935came[H8799] H3389into Jerusalem.
