2 Samuel 13 - King James Bible with Strong Numbers

1 H310And it came to pass afterH53this, that AbsalomH1121the sonH1732of DavidH3303had a fairH269sisterH8034, whose nameH8559was TamarH550; and AmnonH1121the sonH1732of DavidH157loved[H8799]  her.

2 H550And AmnonH3334was so vexed[H8799] H2470, that he fell sick[H8692] H269for his sisterH8559TamarH1330; for she was a virginH550; and AmnonH5869thoughtH6381it hard[H8735] H6213for him to do[H8800] H3972any thing to her.

3 H550But AmnonH7453had a friendH8034, whose nameH3122was JonadabH1121, the sonH8093of ShimeahH1732David'sH251brotherH3122: and JonadabH3966was a veryH2450subtilH376man.

4 H559And he said[H8799] H4428unto him, Why art thou, being the king'sH1121sonH1800, leanH1242from dayH1242to dayH5046? wilt thou not tell[H8686] H550me? And AmnonH559said[H8799] H157unto him, I love[H8802] H8559TamarH251, my brotherH53Absalom'sH269sister.

5 H3082And JonadabH559said[H8799] H7901unto him, Lay thee down[H8798] H4904on thy bedH2470, and make thyself sick[H8690] H1: and when thy fatherH935cometh[H8804] H7200to see[H8800] H559thee, say[H8804] H269unto him, I pray thee, let my sisterH8559TamarH935come[H8799] H1262, and give[H8686] H3899me meatH6213, and dress[H8804] H1279the meatH5869in my sightH7200, that I may see[H8799] H398it, and eat[H8804] H3027it at her hand.

6 H550So AmnonH7901lay down[H8799] H2470, and made himself sick[H8691] H4428: and when the kingH935was come[H8799] H7200to see[H8800] H550him, AmnonH559said[H8799] H4428unto the kingH8559, I pray thee, let TamarH269my sisterH935come[H8799] H3823, and make[H8762] H8147me a coupleH3834of cakesH5869in my sightH1262, that I may eat[H8799] H3027at her hand.

7 H1732Then DavidH7971sent[H8799] H1004homeH8559to TamarH559, saying[H8800] H3212, Go[H8798] H251now to thy brotherH550Amnon'sH1004houseH6213, and dress[H8798] H1279him meat.

8 H8559So TamarH3212went[H8799] H251to her brotherH550Amnon'sH1004houseH7901; and he was laid down[H8802] H3947. And she took[H8799] H1217flourH3888, and kneaded[H8799] H3823it, and made cakes[H8762] H5869in his sightH1310, and did bake[H8762] H3834the cakes.

9 H3947And she took[H8799] H4958a panH3332, and poured them out[H8799] H6440beforeH3985him; but he refused[H8762] H398to eat[H8800] H550. And AmnonH559said[H8799] H3318, Have out[H8685] H376all menH3318from me. And they went out[H8799] H376every man from him.

10 H550And AmnonH559said[H8799] H8559unto TamarH935, Bring[H8685] H1279the meatH2315into the chamberH1262, that I may eat[H8799] H3027of thine handH8559. And TamarH3947took[H8799] H3834the cakesH6213which she had made[H8804] H935, and brought[H8686] H2315them into the chamberH550to AmnonH251her brother.

11 H5066And when she had brought[H8686] H398them unto him to eat[H8800] H2388, he took hold[H8686] H559of her, and said[H8799] H935unto her, Come[H8798] H7901lie[H8798] H269with me, my sister.

12 H559And she answered[H8799] H251him, Nay, my brotherH6031, do not force[H8762] H3651me; for no such thing oughtH6213to be done[H8735] H3478in IsraelH6213: do[H8799] H5039not thou this folly.

13 H2781And I, whither shall I cause my shameH3212to go[H8686] H259? and as for thee, thou shalt be as oneH5036of the foolsH3478in IsraelH1696. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak[H8761] H4428unto the kingH4513; for he will not withhold[H8799]  me from thee.

14 H14Howbeit he would[H8804] H8085not hearken[H8800] H6963unto her voiceH2388: but, being stronger[H8799] H6031than she, forced[H8762] H7901her, and lay[H8799]  with her.

15 H550Then AmnonH8130hated[H8799] H3966her exceedinglyH1419 H8135; so that the hatredH8130wherewith he hated[H8804] H1419her was greaterH160than the loveH157wherewith he had loved[H8804] H550her. And AmnonH559said[H8799] H6965unto her, Arise[H8798] H3212, be gone[H8798] .

16 H559And she said[H8799] H182unto him, There is no causeH7451: this evilH7971in sending me away[H8763] H1419is greaterH312than the otherH6213that thou didst[H8804] H14unto me. But he would[H8804] H8085not hearken[H8800]  unto her.

17 H7121Then he called[H8799] H5288his servantH8334that ministered[H8764] H559unto him, and said[H8799] H7971, Put[H8798] H2351now this woman outH5274from me, and bolt[H8798] H1817the doorH310after her.

18 H3801And she had a garmentH6446of divers coloursH4598upon her: for with such robesH4428were the king'sH1323daughtersH1330that were virginsH3847apparelled[H8799] H8334. Then his servant[H8764] H3318brought[H8686] H2351her outH5274, and bolted[H8804] H1817the doorH310after her.

19 H8559And TamarH3947put[H8799] H665ashesH7218on her headH7167, and rent[H8804] H3801her garmentH6446of divers coloursH7760that was on her, and laid[H8799] H3027her handH7218on her headH3212, and went[H8799] H1980on[H8800] H2199crying[H8804] .

20 H53And AbsalomH251her brotherH559said[H8799] H550unto her, Hath AmnonH251thy brotherH2790been with thee? but hold now thy peace[H8685] H269, my sisterH251: he is thy brotherH7896; regard[H8799] H3820 H1697not this thingH8559. So TamarH3427remained[H8799] H8074desolate[H8802] H251in her brotherH53Absalom'sH1004house.

21 H4428But when kingH1732DavidH8085heard[H8804] H1697of all these thingsH3966, he was veryH2734wroth[H8799] .

22 H53And AbsalomH1696spake[H8765] H550unto his brother AmnonH2896neither goodH7451nor badH53: for AbsalomH8130hated[H8804] H550AmnonH1697, becauseH6031he had forced[H8765] H269his sisterH8559Tamar.

23 H3117And it came to pass after two fullH8141yearsH53, that AbsalomH1494had sheepshearers[H8802] H1178in BaalhazorH669, which is beside EphraimH53: and AbsalomH7121invited[H8799] H4428all the king'sH1121sons.

24 H53And AbsalomH935came[H8799] H4428to the kingH559, and said[H8799] H5650, Behold now, thy servantH1494hath sheepshearers[H8802] H3212; letH4428the kingH5650, I beseech thee, and his servantsH3212go[H8799] H5650with thy servant.

25 H4428And the kingH559said[H8799] H53to AbsalomH1121, Nay, my sonH3212, let us not all now go[H8799] H3513, lest we be chargeable[H8799] H6555unto thee. And he pressed[H8799] H14him: howbeit he would[H8804] H3212not go[H8800] H1288, but blessed[H8762]  him.

26 H559Then said[H8799] H53AbsalomH251, If not, I pray thee, let my brotherH550AmnonH3212go[H8799] H4428with us. And the kingH559said[H8799] H3212unto him, Why should he go[H8799]  with thee?

27 H53But AbsalomH6555pressed[H8799] H550him, that he let AmnonH4428and all the king'sH1121sonsH7971go[H8799]  with him.

28 H53Now AbsalomH6680had commanded[H8762] H5288his servantsH559, saying[H8800] H7200, Mark[H8798] H550ye now when Amnon'sH3820heartH2896is merryH3196with wineH559, and when I say[H8804] H5221unto you, Smite[H8685] H550AmnonH4191; then kill[H8689] H3372him, fear[H8799] H6680not: have not I commanded[H8765] H2388you? be courageous[H8798] H1121, and be valiantH2428 .

29 H5288And the servantsH53of AbsalomH6213did[H8799] H550unto AmnonH53as AbsalomH6680had commanded[H8765] H4428. Then all the king'sH1121sonsH6965arose[H8799] H376, and every manH7392gat him up[H8799] H6505upon his muleH5127, and fled[H8799] .

30 H1870And it came to pass, while they were in the wayH8052, that tidingsH935came[H8804] H1732to DavidH559, saying[H8800] H53, AbsalomH5221hath slain[H8689] H4428all the king'sH1121sonsH259, and there is not oneH3498of them left[H8738] .

31 H4428Then the kingH6965arose[H8799] H7167, and tare[H8799] H899his garmentsH7901, and lay[H8799] H776on the earthH5650; and all his servantsH5324stood[H8737] H899by with their clothesH7167rent[H8803] .

32 H3122And JonadabH1121, the sonH8093of ShimeahH1732David'sH251brotherH6030, answered[H8799] H559and said[H8799] H113, Let not my lordH559suppose[H8799] H4191that they have slain[H8689] H5288all the young menH4428the king'sH1121sonsH550; for AmnonH4191only is dead[H8804] H6310: for by the appointmentH53of AbsalomH7760this hath been determined[H8803] H3117from the dayH6031that he forced[H8763] H269his sisterH8559Tamar.

33 H113Now therefore let not my lordH4428the kingH7760take[H8799] H1697the thingH3820to his heartH559, to think[H8800] H4428that all the king'sH1121sonsH4191are dead[H8804] H550: for AmnonH4191only is dead[H8804] .

34 H53But AbsalomH1272fled[H8799] H5288. And the young manH6822that kept the watch[H8802] H5375lifted up[H8799] H5869his eyesH7200, and looked[H8799] H1980, and, behold, there came[H8802] H7227muchH5971peopleH1870by the wayH2022of the hillH6654sideH310behind him.

35 H3122And JonadabH559said[H8799] H4428unto the kingH4428, Behold, the king'sH1121sonsH935come[H8804] H5650: as thy servantH1697said, so it is.

36 H3615And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end[H8763] H1696of speaking[H8763] H4428, that, behold, the king'sH1121sonsH935came[H8804] H5375, and lifted up[H8799] H6963their voiceH1058and wept[H8799] H4428: and the kingH5650also and all his servantsH1058wept[H8804] H3966veryH1065soreH1419 .

37 H53But AbsalomH1272fled[H8804] H3212, and went[H8799] H8526to TalmaiH1121, the sonH5991of Ammihud[H8675] H5989 H4428, kingH1650of GeshurH56. And David mourned[H8691] H1121for his sonH3117every day.

38 H53So AbsalomH1272fled[H8804] H3212, and went[H8799] H1650to GeshurH7969, and was there threeH8141years.

39 H4428And the soul of kingH1732DavidH3615longed[H8762] H3318to go forth[H8800] H53unto AbsalomH5162: for he was comforted[H8738] H550concerning AmnonH4191, seeing he was dead[H8804] .
