² H1732Therefore DavidH7592enquired[H8799] H3068of the LORDH559, saying[H8800] H3212, Shall I go[H8799] H5221and smite[H8689] H6430these PhilistinesH3068? And the LORDH559said[H8799] H1732unto DavidH3212, Go[H8798] H5221, and smite[H8689] H6430the PhilistinesH3467, and save[H8689] H7084Keilah.

³ H1732And David'sH582menH559said[H8799] H3373unto him, Behold, we be afraidH3063here in JudahH3212: how much more then if we come[H8799] H7084to KeilahH4634against the armiesH6430of the Philistines?

⁴ H1732Then DavidH7592enquired[H8800] H3068of the LORDH3254yet again[H8686] H3068. And the LORDH6030answered[H8799] H559him and said[H8799] H6965, Arise[H8798] H3381, go down[H8798] H7084to KeilahH5414; for I will deliver[H8802] H6430the PhilistinesH3027into thine hand.

⁵ H1732So DavidH582and his menH3212went[H8799] H7084to KeilahH3898, and fought[H8735] H6430with the PhilistinesH5090, and brought away[H8799] H4735their cattleH5221, and smote[H8686] H1419them with a greatH4347slaughterH1732. So DavidH3467saved[H8686] H3427the inhabitants[H8802] H7084of Keilah.

⁶ H54And it came to pass, when AbiatharH1121the sonH288of AhimelechH1272fled[H8800] H1732to DavidH7084to KeilahH3381, that he came down[H8804] H646with an ephodH3027in his hand.

⁷ H5046And it was told[H8714] H7586SaulH1732that DavidH935was come[H8804] H7084to KeilahH7586. And SaulH559said[H8799] H430, GodH5234hath delivered[H8765] H3027him into mine handH5462; for he is shut in[H8738] H935, by entering[H8800] H5892into a townH1817that hath gatesH1280and bars.

⁸ H7586And SaulH8085calledH5971all the peopleH8085together[H8762] H4421to warH3381, to go down[H8800] H7084to KeilahH6696, to besiege[H8800] H1732DavidH582and his men.

⁹ H1732And DavidH3045knew[H8799] H7586that SaulH2790secretly practised[H8688] H7451mischiefH559against him; and he said[H8799] H54to AbiatharH3548the priestH5066, Bring hither[H8685] H646the ephod.

¹⁰ H559Then said[H8799] H1732DavidH3068, O LORDH430GodH3478of IsraelH5650, thy servantH8085hath certainly[H8800] H8085heard[H8804] H7586that SaulH1245seeketh[H8764] H935to come[H8800] H7084to KeilahH7843, to destroy[H8763] H5892the city for my sake.

¹¹ H1167Will the menH7084of KeilahH5462deliver me up[H8686] H3027into his handH7586? will SaulH3381come down[H8799] H5650, as thy servantH8085hath heard[H8804] H3068? O LORDH430GodH3478of IsraelH5046, I beseech thee, tell[H8685] H5650thy servantH3068. And the LORDH559said[H8799] H3381, He will come down[H8799] .

¹² H559Then said[H8799] H1732DavidH1167, Will the menH7084of KeilahH5462deliver[H8686] H582me and my menH3027into the handH7586of SaulH3068? And the LORDH559said[H8799] H5462, They will deliver thee up[H8686] .

¹³ H1732Then DavidH582and his menH8337, which were about sixH3967hundredH376 H6965, arose[H8799] H3318and departed[H8799] H7084out of KeilahH1980, and went[H8691] H834whithersoeverH1980they could go[H8691] H5046. And it was told[H8717] H7586SaulH1732that DavidH4422was escaped[H8738] H7084from KeilahH2308; and he forbare[H8799] H3318to go forth[H8800] .

¹⁴ H1732And DavidH3427abode[H8799] H4057in the wildernessH4679in strong holdsH3427, and remained[H8799] H2022in a mountainH4057in the wildernessH2128of ZiphH7586. And SaulH1245sought[H8762] H3117him every dayH430, but GodH5414delivered[H8804] H3027him not into his hand.

¹⁵ H1732And DavidH7200saw[H8799] H7586that SaulH3318was come out[H8804] H1245to seek[H8763] H5315his lifeH1732: and DavidH4057was in the wildernessH2128of ZiphH2793in a wood.

¹⁶ H3083And JonathanH7586Saul'sH1121sonH6965arose[H8799] H3212, and went[H8799] H1732to DavidH2793into the woodH2388, and strengthened[H8762] H3027his handH430in God.

¹⁷ H559And he said[H8799] H3372unto him, Fear[H8799] H3027not: for the handH7586of SaulH1my fatherH4672shall not find[H8799] H4427thee; and thou shalt be king[H8799] H3478over IsraelH4932, and I shall be nextH7586unto thee; and that also SaulH1my fatherH3045knoweth[H8802] .

¹⁸ H8147And they twoH3772made[H8799] H1285a covenantH6440beforeH3068the LORDH1732: and DavidH3427abode[H8799] H2793in the woodH3083, and JonathanH1980went[H8804] H1004to his house.

¹⁹ H5927Then came up[H8799] H2130the ZiphitesH7586to SaulH1390to GibeahH559, saying[H8800] H1732, Doth not DavidH5641hide[H8693] H4679himself with us in strong holdsH2793in the woodH1389, in the hillH2444of HachilahH3225, which is on the southH3452of Jeshimon?

²⁰ H4428Now therefore, O kingH3381, come down[H8798] H185according to all the desireH5315of thy soulH3381to come down[H8800] H5462; and our part shall be to deliver[H8687] H4428him into the king'sH3027hand.

²¹ H7586And SaulH559said[H8799] H1288, Blessed[H8803] H3068be ye of the LORDH2550; for ye have compassion[H8804]  on me.

²² H3212Go[H8798] H3559, I pray you, prepare[H8685] H3045yet, and know[H8798] H7200and see[H8798] H4725his placeH7272where his hauntH7200is, and who hath seen[H8804] H559him there: for it is told[H8804] H6191me that he dealeth very[H8800] H6191subtilly[H8686] .

²³ H7200See[H8798] H3045therefore, and take knowledge[H8798] H4224of all the lurking placesH2244where he hideth[H8691] H7725himself, and come ye again[H8804] H3559to me with the certainty[H8737] H1980, and I will go[H8804] H3426with you: and it shall come to pass, if he beH776in the landH2664, that I will search[H8765] H505him out throughout all the thousandsH3063of Judah.

²⁴ H6965And they arose[H8799] H3212, and went[H8799] H2128to ZiphH6440beforeH7586SaulH1732: but DavidH582and his menH4057were in the wildernessH4584of MaonH6160, in the plainH3225on the southH3452of Jeshimon.

²⁵ H7586SaulH582also and his menH3212went[H8799] H1245to seek[H8763] H5046him . And they told[H8686] H1732DavidH3381: wherefore he came down[H8799] H5553into a rockH3427, and abode[H8799] H4057in the wildernessH4584of MaonH7586. And when SaulH8085heard[H8799] H7291that, he pursued[H8799] H310afterH1732DavidH4057in the wildernessH4584of Maon.

²⁶ H7586And SaulH3212went[H8799] H6654on this sideH2022of the mountainH1732, and DavidH582and his menH6654on that sideH2022of the mountainH1732: and DavidH2648made haste[H8737] H3212to get away[H8800] H6440for fearH7586of SaulH7586; for SaulH582and his menH5849compassedH1732DavidH582and his menH5849round about[H8802] H8610to take[H8800]  them.

²⁷ H935But there came[H8804] H4397a messengerH7586unto SaulH559, saying[H8800] H4116, Haste[H8761] H3212thee, and come[H8798] H6430; for the PhilistinesH6584have invaded[H8804] H776the land.

²⁸ H7586Wherefore SaulH7725returned[H8799] H7291from pursuing[H8800] H310afterH1732DavidH3212, and went[H8799] H7125against[H8800] H6430the PhilistinesH7121: therefore they called[H8804] H4725that placeH5555Selahammahlekoth.

²⁹ H1732And DavidH5927went up[H8799] H3427from thence, and dwelt[H8799] H4679in strong holdsH5872at Engedi.
