Psalm 9 - Easy To Read Version

I praise the Lord with all my heart.\par Lord, I will tell about all the wonderful things you did.\par

You make me so very happy.\par God Most-High, I praise your name.\par

My enemies turned to run from you.\par But they fell and were destroyed.\par

You are the good judge.\par You sat on your throne {\cf2\super [48]} as judge.\par Lord, you listened to my case.\par And you made the decision about me.\par

You criticized those other people.\par Lord, you destroyed those bad people.\par You erased their names forever and ever\par \{from the list of people who are alive\}.\par

The enemy is finished!\par Lord, you destroyed their cities!\par Now, only ruined buildings are left.\par Nothing is left to remind us\par of those bad people.\par

But the Lord rules forever.\par The Lord made his kingdom strong.\par He did this to bring fairness to the world.\par

The Lord judges everyone on earth fairly.\par He judges all nations the same.\par

Many people are trapped and hurting\par because they have many troubles.\par Those people are crushed by the weight of their problems.\par Lord, be a safe place for them to run to.\par

People who know your name\par should trust you.\par Lord, if people come to you,\par you will not leave them without help.\par

You people living on Zion,\par sing praises to the Lord. {\cf2\super [49]} \par Tell other nations about the great things\par the Lord did.\par

The Lord remembered the people who\par went to him for help. {\cf2\super [50]} \par Those poor people cried for help.\par And the Lord didn’t forget them.\par

\{I said this prayer to God:\}\par “Lord, be kind to me.\par Look, my enemies are hurting me.\par Save me from the ‘gates of death.’\par

Then, at the gates of Jerusalem,\par I can sing praises to you, Lord.\par I will be very happy\par because you saved me.”\par

Those people from other nations\par dug holes to trap other people.\par But they fell into their own traps.\par Those people hid nets to trap other people.\par But they were caught in those nets.\par

The Lord caught those bad people.\par So people learned that the Lord punishes people who do bad things.\par \i (HIGGAYON {\cf2\super [51]})\i0 \par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [52]})\i0 \par

People who forget God are bad.\par They will go to the place of death.\par

Sometimes it seems that God forgets about people with troubles.\par It seems those poor people have no hope.\par But God doesn’t really forget them forever.\par

Lord, get up {\cf2\super [53]} and judge the nations.\par Don’t let people think they are powerful.\par

Teach people a lesson.\par Let them know they are only human.\par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [54]})\i0 \par
