Then the Lord said, “What have you done? {You killed your brother!} His blood is like a voice shouting to me from the ground.


Later, the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”


Tell Ahab that I, the Lord, say to him, ‘Ahab! You killed the man Naboth. Now you are taking his land. So I tell you this! In the same place that Naboth died, you will also die. The dogs that licked Naboth’s blood will lick your blood in the same place!’”


The Lord said, ‘Yesterday I saw the blood of Naboth and his sons. So I will punish Ahab in this field.’ The Lord said that. So take Joram’s body and throw it into the field, just like the Lord said!”


Joash the king didn’t remember Jehoiada’s kindness to him. Jehoiada was Zechariah’s father. But Joash killed Zechariah, Jehoiada’s son. Before Zechariah died, he said, “May the Lord see what you are doing and punish you!”


Our God, you are the great God,\par the awesome, powerful soldier!\par And you are kind and loyal!\par You keep your agreement!\par We have had many troubles.\par And our troubles are important to you!\par Bad things happened to all our people,\par and to our kings and leaders,\par and to our priests and prophets.\par Those terrible things have happened\par from the days of the king of Assyria\par until today!\par


Lord, get up and do something!\par God, punish those bad people!\par Don’t forget the poor people!\par


Those people refused to eat,\par and they almost died.\par

Why? Because you saved me from death.\par You kept me from being defeated.\par So I will worship God in the light\par that only living people can see.\par


God, you have such great love for me.\par You save me from the place of death.\par


I told myself I would live to be old.\par But then it was my time to go through\par the gates of Sheol. {\cf2\super [365]} \par Now I will spend all of my time there.\par


All the people of Jerusalem are groaning.\par All of her people are looking for food.\par They are giving away all their nice things for food.\par They are doing this to keep alive.\par Jerusalem says,\par “Look, Lord. Look at me!\par See how people hate me.\par


Jerusalem’s skirts became dirty.\par She didn’t think about the things\par that would happen to her.\par Her fall was amazing.\par She had no person to comfort her.\par She says,\par “Lord, see how I am hurt!\par See how my enemy thinks he is so great!”\par
