¹ “Come, let’s go back to the Lord.\par He hurt us, but he will heal us.\par He wounded us,\par but he will put bandages on us.\par

² After two days he will bring us back\par to life.\par He will raise us up on the third day.\par Then we can live near him.\par

³ Let’s learn about the Lord.\par Let’s try very hard to know the Lord.\par We know he is coming,\par like we know the dawn is coming.\par The Lord will come to us like the rain,\par like the spring rain that waters the ground.”\par

⁴ “Ephraim, {\cf2\super [63]} what should I do with you?\par Judah, what should I do with you?\par Your faithfulness is like a morning mist,\par Your faithfulness is like the dew\par that goes away early in the morning.\par

⁵ I used the prophets,\par and made laws for the people.\par The people were killed at my command.\par But good things will come\par from those decisions. {\cf2\super [64]} \par

⁶ Why? Because I want faithful love,\par not sacrifice,\par \{I want people\} to know God,\par not \{to bring\} burnt offerings.\par

⁷ But the people broke the Agreement\par just like Adam did. {\cf2\super [65]} \par They were unfaithful to me\par in their country.\par

⁸ Gilead {\cf2\super [66]} is a city of people that do evil.\par People have tricked and killed other people.\par

⁹ Robbers hide and wait to attack someone.\par In the same way,\par priests wait on the road to Shechem\par and attack the people that pass by.\par They have done evil things.\par

¹⁰ I have seen a terrible thing\par in the nation {\cf2\super [67]} of Israel.\par Ephraim {\cf2\super [68]} was unfaithful to God.\par Israel is dirty with sin.\par

¹¹ Judah, there is also a time of harvest for you.\par It will happen at the time that I bring\par
