Haman had learned that Mordecai was a Jew. But he was not satisfied with killing only Mordecai. Haman also wanted to find a way to destroy all of Mordecai’s people, the Jews, in all of Xerxes’ kingdom.


Evil people might attack me.\par They might try to destroy my body.\par My enemies might try to attack\par and destroy me.\par


Don’t let those people say,\par “Aha! We got what we wanted!”\par Lord, don’t let them say,\par “We destroyed him!”\par


From heaven he helps me and saves me.\par He defeats the people who bother me.\par \i (SELAH {\cf2\super [336]})\i0 \par


The enemy decided to crush us completely.\par They burned every holy place {\cf2\super [423]} \par in the country.\par
