¹ What would have happened to us\par if the Lord had not been on our side?\par Tell me the answer, Israel.\par

² What would have happened to us\par if the Lord had not been on our side\par when people attacked us?\par

³ Our enemies would have swallowed us alive\par whenever they became angry at us.\par

⁴ Our enemies’ armies would have been\par like a flood washing over us,\par like a river drowning us.\par

⁵ Those proud people would have been\par like water rising up to our mouth\par and drowning us.\par

⁶ Praise the Lord!\par The Lord did not let our enemies\par catch us and kill us.\par

⁷ We are like a bird that was\par trapped in a net,\par and then escaped.\par The net broke, and we escaped!\par

⁸ Our help came from the Lord.\par The Lord made heaven and earth!\par \par \par
