When these troubles came to him, Manasseh begged for help from the Lord his God. Manasseh humbled himself before the God of his ancestors. {\cf2\super [409]}


\{I almost died!\}\par Death’s ropes were wrapped around me.\par The grave was closing in around me.\par I was scared and worried.\par


I was in trouble.\par I called to the Lord for help.\par And he saved me!\par


Why? Because, Lord, you will not leave\par my soul in the place of death.\par You will not let your faithful one rot\par in the grave. {\cf2\super [88]} \par


Why? Because the Lord helps poor people who have troubles.\par The Lord is not ashamed of them.\par He doesn’t hate them.\par If people call to the Lord for help,\par he will not hide from them.\par


This poor man called to the Lord for help.\par And the Lord heard me.\par He saved me from all my troubles.\par


My good God, answer me\par when I pray to you!\par Hear my prayer\par and be kind to me!\par Give me some relief from all my troubles!\par


Wherever I am, however weak,\par I will call to you for help!\par Carry me to the place of safety far above. {\cf2\super [360]} \par


We tell about the things you have done.\par And you hear our prayers.\par You hear the prayers of every person who comes to you.\par


God, you have such great love for me.\par You save me from the place of death.\par


Sheol, {\cf2\super [148]} \{the place of death\} is excited\par because you are coming.\par Sheol is waking the spirits of all\par the leaders of the earth for you.\par Sheol is making the kings stand\par from their thrones.\par They will be ready for your coming.\par


Lord, I called your name.\par I called out your name\par from the bottom of the pit.\par


I will send you down into that deep hole—to the place where dead people are. You will join the people that died long ago. I will send you to the world below, like all the other old, empty cities. You will be with all the others that go down to the grave. No one will live in you then. You will never again be in the land of the living!


“Now, none of the trees by that water will be proud. They won’t try to reach the clouds. None of the strong trees that drink that water will brag about being tall. Why? Because all of them have been appointed to die. They will all go down into the world below—to Sheol, the place of death. They will join the other people who died and went down into that deep hole.”


Jonah was in the stomach of the big fish for three days and three nights. In the same way, the Son of Man {\cf2\super [179]} will be in the grave three days and three nights.


Yes, if a person continues asking, that person will receive. If a person continues looking, that person will find. And if a person continues knocking, the door will open for that person.


Jesus was full of pain; he struggled hard in prayer. Sweat dripped from his face like he was bleeding. {\cf2\super [359]}


because you will not leave me\par in the place of death. {\cf2\super [31]} \par You will not let the body of your Holy One rot in the grave.\par


While Christ lived on earth he prayed to God and asked God for help. God is the One who could save him from death, and Jesus prayed to God with loud cries and tears. And God answered Jesus’ prayers because Jesus was humble and did everything God wanted.


Don’t think I am a bad woman. I have been praying so long because I have so many troubles and I am very sad.”


All the men in the army were sad and angry because their sons and daughters were taken as prisoners. The men were talking about killing David with stones. This made David very upset. But David found strength in the Lord his God.
