6 All the men in the army were sad and angry because their sons and daughters were taken as prisoners. The men were talking about killing David with stones. This made David very upset. But David found strength in the Lord his God.

That message scared Jacob. He divided the people who were with him into two groups. He divided all the flocks and the herds and the camels into two groups.


Hushai added, “You know that your father and his men are strong men. They are as dangerous as a wild bear when something has taken its babies. Your father is a skilled fighter. He will not stay {all night} with the people.


But the Shunammite woman went up the hill to the man of God [31] (Elisha). She {bowed down and} touched Elisha’s feet. Gehazi came near to pull the Shunammite woman away. But the man of God (Elisha) said to Gehazi, “Let her alone! She’s very upset, and the Lord didn’t tell me about it. The Lord hid this news from me.”


I will continue to trust God\par even if God kills me. {\cf2\super [23]} \par But I will defend myself to his face.\par


I continued believing even when I said,\par “I am ruined!”\par


God, I called to you for help.\par And you answered me!\par You gave me strength.\par

So Moses cried to the Lord, “What can I do with these people? They are ready to kill me.”


There is much strength in the name of the Lord. It is like a strong tower. Good people can run to him and be safe.


\{Lord\} you are a safe place\par for poor people that have needs.\par Many problems begin to defeat these people,\par but you protect them.\par \{Lord\} you are like a house protecting people\par from floods and heat.\par Troubles are like terrible winds and rain.\par The rain hits the wall and runs down,\par but the people in the house are not hurt.\par


Lord, you are my strength\par and my protection.\par You are a safe place to run to\par in time of trouble.\par The nations will come to you\par from all around the world.\par They will say,\par “Our fathers had false gods.\par They worshiped those worthless idols,\par but those idols did not help them at all.”\par


“I was in very bad trouble.\par I called to the Lord for help,\par and he answered me!\par I was deep in the grave. {\cf2\super [8]} \par I cried to you, Lord,\par and you heard my voice!\par


All of the people began talking about killing Joshua and Caleb with stones. But the Glory of the Lord [182] appeared over the Meeting Tent [183] where all the people could see it.


Some of the people were walking ahead of Jesus. Other people were walking behind Jesus. The people shouted,


Pilate asked, “So what should I do with Jesus, the one called the Christ {\cf2\super [428]} ?”


When Jesus said this, the people picked up rocks to throw at him. But Jesus hid, and then he left the temple {\cf2\super [151]} area.


There was no hope \{that Abraham {\cf2\super [45]} would have children\}. But Abraham believed God and continued hoping. And that is why he became the father of many nations. Like God told him, “You will have many descendants (children).” {\cf2\super [46]}


Abraham never doubted that God would do the thing that God promised. Abraham never stopped believing. He grew stronger in his faith and gave praise to God.


So what should we say about this? If God is for us, then no person can stand against us. And God is with us.


If we have troubles, those troubles are for your comfort and salvation. If we have comfort, it is for your comfort. This helps you to patiently accept the same sufferings that we have.


We have troubles all around us, but we are not defeated. We often don’t know what to do, but we don’t give up.


When we came into Macedonia, we had no rest. We found trouble all around us. We had fighting on the outside and fear on the inside.


The men from the family group of Dan answered, “You had better not argue with us. Some of our men have hot tempers. If you shout at us, those men might attack you. You and your families might get killed.”


Hannah was very sad. She cried very much while she prayed to the Lord.


But Saul’s son Jonathan went to see David at Horesh. Jonathan helped David to have a stronger faith in God.


Samuel said to Saul, “Why did you bother me? Why did you bring me up?”
