The Lord decided to crush him. The Lord decided that he must suffer, so the Servant gave himself to be the one to die. But he will live a new life for a long, long time. He will see his people. He will complete the things the Lord wants him to do.


All you people that pass by on the road,\par you don’t seem to care.\par But look at me and see.\par Is there any pain like my pain?\par Is there any pain like the pain\par that has come to me?\par Is there any pain like the pain\par that the Lord has punished me with?\par He has punished me on the day\par of his great anger.\par


When Jesus finished praying, he went to his followers. They were asleep. (Their sadness had made them very tired.)


“Now I am very troubled. What should I say? Should I say, ‘Father save me from this time \{of suffering\}’? No, I came to this time so that I could suffer.


He even let his own Son suffer for us. God gave his Son for us all. So with Jesus now, God will surely give us all things.


While Christ lived on earth he prayed to God and asked God for help. God is the One who could save him from death, and Jesus prayed to God with loud cries and tears. And God answered Jesus’ prayers because Jesus was humble and did everything God wanted.
