The Lord All-Powerful said, “I will stand and fight against those people. I will destroy the famous city, Babylon. I will destroy all the people of Babylon. I will destroy their children, their grandchildren, and their great-grandchildren.” The Lord himself said those things.


\{So the people of Tyre say,\}\par “The people of Babylon will help us!”\par But look at the land of the Chaldeans! {\cf2\super [227]} \par Babylon is not a country now.\par Assyria {\cf2\super [228]} attacked Babylon and built war towers around it.\par The soldiers took everything from\par the beautiful houses.\par Assyria made Babylon\par a place for wild animals.\par They changed Babylon\par into a place of ruins.\par


This is what the Lord says: “I will tell you what I will do for all the people that live around the land of Israel. Those people are very wicked. They have destroyed the land I gave to the people of Israel. I will pull those evil people up and throw them out of their land. And I will pull the people of Judah up with them.


The enemy will attack with swords\par and kill the people.\par They will kill the survivors {\cf2\super [129]} from Judah.\par A woman might have seven sons,\par \{but they will all die.\}\par She will cry and cry\par until she becomes weak\par and not able to breathe.\par She will be upset and confused.\par Her bright day will become dark from sadness.”\par


This is what the Lord says about the palace where the king of Judah lives:


“But when the 70 years have passed, I will punish the king of Babylon. I will punish the nation of Babylon.” This message is from the Lord. “I will punish the land of the Babylonians for their sins. I will make that land a desert forever.


I made all the kings of the north, those that were near and far, drink from the cup. I made them drink one after the other. I made all the kingdoms that are on earth drink from the cup of the anger of the Lord. But the king of Babylon will drink from this cup after all of these other nations.


The Lord says,\par “The time will come in Rabbah of Ammon {\cf2\super [396]} \par when people hear the sounds of battle.\par Rabbah of Ammon will be destroyed.\par It will be an empty hill\par covered with destroyed buildings.\par And the towns around it will be burned.\par Those people forced the people of Israel\par to leave their own land.\par But later, Israel will force them to leave.”\par The Lord said these things.\par


Babylon will be like a dry, desert land.\par Its cities will be empty ruins.\par No people will live in those cities.\par No people will even travel through them.\par


The time will surely come—\par I will punish the false gods of Babylon.\par And the whole land of Babylon\par will be put to shame.\par There will be many, many dead people,\par lying in the streets of that city.\par


But the heavenly Jerusalem that is above is like the free woman. This is our mother.


She had a title written on her forehead. This title has a hidden meaning. This is what was written:
