So Solomon began to build the temple. This was 480 years [30] after the people of Israel left Egypt. This was during Solomon’s fourth year as king of Israel. It was in the month of Ziv, the second month of the year.


The Lord said to him: “I heard your prayer. I heard the things that you asked me to do. You built this temple. And I have made it a holy place. So I will be honored there forever. I will watch over it and think of it always.


Now give your heart and soul to the Lord your God, and do the things he says. Build the holy place of the Lord God. Build the temple {\cf2\super [243]} for the Lord’s name. Then bring the Box of the Agreement {\cf2\super [244]} and all the other holy things into the temple.”


I have chosen this temple, and I have made it holy so that my name will be here forever. Yes, my eyes and heart will always be here in this temple.


Then those people who had come back from captivity gave money to the stonecutters and carpenters. And those people gave food, wine, and olive oil. They used these things to pay the people of Tyre and Sidon to bring cedar logs from Lebanon. Those people wanted to bring the logs in ships to the sea coast town of Joppa like \{Solomon did when he built\} the first temple. Cyrus king of Persia gave permission for them to do these things.


\{The wall around it\} must have three rows of large stones and one row of big wood timbers. The cost of building the temple must be paid for from the king’s treasury.


I will meet with the people of Israel at that place. And my Glory [285] will make that place holy.


All the great things of Lebanon {\cf2\super [453]} \par will be given to you.\par People will bring pine trees, fir trees,\par and cypress trees to you.\par These trees will be used for lumber\par to make my holy place {\cf2\super [454]} more beautiful.\par This place is like a stool\par in front of my throne,\par And I will give it much honor.\par


People will collect all the sheep from Kedar\par and give them to you.\par They will bring you rams from Nebaioth.\par You will offer those animals on my altar.\par And I will accept them.\par I will make my wonderful temple {\cf2\super [452]} \par even more beautiful.\par


Why? Because you will receive mercy\par like milk coming from her breast.\par That “milk” will truly satisfy you!\par You people will drink the milk,\par and you will truly enjoy\par the glory of Jerusalem.\par


The Lord All-Powerful says, “Think about what you are doing!


I will shake up the nations, and they will come to you with wealth from every nation. And then I will fill this temple {\cf2\super [7]} with glory. The Lord All-Powerful is saying these things!


And the Lord All-Powerful says that this last temple will be more beautiful than the first temple! And I will bring peace to this place! Remember, the Lord All-Powerful is saying these things!”
