So Moses raised his arm into the air and a cloud of darkness covered Egypt. The darkness stayed in Egypt for three days.


None of the people could see each other. And no one got up to go any place for three days. But there was light in all the places where the people of Israel lived.


But I will not treat the people of Israel the same as the Egyptian people. There will not be any flies in Goshen, where my people live. In this way you will know that I, the Lord, am in this land.


The only place that did not get hail was the land of Goshen, where the people of Israel lived.


The Lord will treat Israel’s animals differently from the animals of Egypt. None of the animals that belong to the people of Israel will die.


I will make my vineyard {\cf2\super [47]} an empty field.\par No person will care for the plants.\par No person will work in the field.\par Weeds and thorns will grow there.\par I will command the clouds\par not to rain on the field.”\par


Foreign idols don’t have the power\par to bring rain.\par The sky does not have the power\par to send showers of rain down.\par You are our only hope.\par You are the One who made all these things.”\par


The leaders of the people send their servants\par to get water.\par The servants go to the water storage places,\par but they don’t find any water.\par The servants come back with empty jars.\par So they are ashamed and embarrassed.\par They cover their heads from shame.\par


No person prepares the ground for crops. {\cf2\super [120]} \par No rain falls on the land.\par The farmers are depressed.\par So they cover their heads from shame.\par


You sinned, so the rain has not come.\par There have not been any springtime rains.\par But still you refuse to be ashamed.\par The look on your face is like the look\par that a prostitute has when she\par refuses to be ashamed.\par You refuse to be ashamed of what you did.\par


So be happy, people of Zion. {\cf2\super [18]} \par Be joyful in the Lord your God.\par He will be good and give you rain.\par He will send you the early rains\par and the late rains like before.\par


And if people from any of the families on earth don’t go to Jerusalem to worship the king, the Lord All-Powerful, then the Lord will not let them have any rain.


\{When you plant\} you always say, ‘Four more months to wait before we gather the grain.’ But I tell you, open your eyes. Look at the \{people. They are like\} fields ready for harvesting now.


Who says that you are better than other people? Everything you have was given to you. So, if everything you have was given to you, then why do you boast like you got those things by your own power?


If you do that, then the Lord will become very angry at you. He will shut the skies, and there will be no rain. The land will not make a harvest. And you will soon die in the good land that the Lord is giving you.


Elijah {\cf2\super [31]} was a person the same as us. He prayed that it would not rain. And it did not rain on the land for three and a half years!


These witnesses have the power to stop the sky from raining during the time they are prophesying. These witnesses have power to make the water become blood. They have power to send every kind of trouble to the earth. They can do this as many times as they want.
