Then the king said to them, “Take my officers with you. Put my son Solomon on my own mule. Take him to Gihon Spring. [3]
So Zadok, Nathan, Benaiah, and the king’s officers obeyed King David. They put Solomon on King David’s mule and went with him to Gihon Spring.
Solomon told Abiathar that he could not continue to serve as a priest of the Lord. This happened the way the Lord said it would. God said this about Eli the priest and his family at Shiloh. {And Abiathar was from Eli’s family.}
Then David asked the priests, Zadok and Abiathar, to come to him. David also asked these Levites to come to him: Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab.
David separated the family groups of Eleazar and Ithamar into two different groups. David did that so those groups could do the duties of work they were given to do. David did this with the help of Zadok and Ahimelech. Zadok was a descendant {\cf2\super [260]} of Eleazar, and Ahimelech was a descendant of Ithamar.
The third commander was Benaiah. Benaiah was the commander for the third month. Benaiah was Jehoiada’s son. Jehoiada was the leading priest. There were 24,000 men in Benaiah’s group.
That day the people were very happy as they ate and drank there together with the Lord.
Hilkiah was the son of Shallum. Shallum was the son of Zadok. Zadok was the son of Ahitub.
If even powerful people do bad things\par God does not need to ask questions.\par God will simply destroy those people,\par and choose other people to be leaders.\par
But the room that looks to the north is for the priests who are on duty and serving at the altar. {\cf2\super [348]} The priests are from the family group of Levi. But this second group of priests are the descendants {\cf2\super [349]} of Zadok. They are the only people who can carry the sacrifices to the altar to serve the Lord.” {\cf2\super [350]}
