Psalm 109 - Easy To Read Version

God, don’t close your ears to my prayer!\par

Wicked people are telling lies about me.\par They are saying things that are not true.\par

People are saying hateful things about me.\par People are attacking me for no reason.\par

I loved them,\par but they hate me.\par So now, I am praying to you, God.\par

I did good things to those people.\par but they are doing bad things to me.\par I loved them,\par but they hated me.\par

Punish my enemy for the bad things he did.\par Find a person to prove he is wrong.\par

Let the judge decide my enemy did wrong\par and that he is guilty.\par Let everything my enemy says\par only make things worse for him.\par

Let my enemy die soon.\par Let another person have his job.\par

Make my enemy’s children orphans\par and his wife a widow.\par

Let them lose their home\par and become beggars.\par

Let the people my enemy owes money to\par take everything he owns.\par Let strangers take everything he worked for.\par

I hope no person is kind\par to my enemy.\par I hope no person shows mercy\par to his children.\par

Destroy my enemy completely.\par Let the next generation remove his name\par from everything.\par

I hope the Lord is reminded of the sins\par of my enemy’s father.\par And I hope his mother’s sins\par are never erased.\par

I hope the Lord remembers\par those sins forever.\par And I hope he forces people to forget\par my enemy completely.\par

Why? Because that evil man\par never did anything good.\par He never loved anyone\par He made life hard for poor, helpless people.\par

That evil man loved to ask for bad things\par to happen to other people.\par So let those bad things happen to him.\par That evil man never asked for good things\par to happen to people.\par So don’t let good things happen to him.\par

Let curses be his clothes.\par Let curses be the water he drinks.\par Let curses be the oil on his body.\par

Let curses be the clothes they wrap around\par that evil man.\par And let curses be the belt around his waist.\par

I hope the Lord does all those things\par to my enemy.\par I hope the Lord does those things\par to the people who are trying to kill me.\par

Lord, you are my Master.\par So treat me in a way that brings honor\par to your name.\par You have such great love,\par so save me.\par

I am only a poor, helpless man.\par I am truly sad, my heart is broken.\par

I feel like my life is over,\par like long shadows at the end of a day.\par I feel like a bug someone brushed away.\par

My knees are weak because I am hungry.\par I am losing weight and becoming thin.\par

Bad people insult me.\par They look at me and shake their heads.\par

Lord my God, help me!\par Show your true love and save me!\par

Then those people will know\par that you helped me.\par Then they will know\par that it was your power that\par helped me.\par

Those bad people curse me,\par but you can bless me, Lord.\par They attacked me, so defeat them.\par Then I, your servant, will be happy.\par

Embarrass my enemies!\par Let them wear their shame like a coat.\par

I thank the Lord.\par I praise him in front of many people.\par

Why? Because the Lord stands by\par helpless people.\par God saves them from other people\par who try to condemn them to death.\par
