The Lord gives wisdom. Knowledge and understanding come from his mouth.


Say, ‘The Lord my Master says these things:


“King, God Most High made your grandfather {\cf2\super [58]} Nebuchadnezzar a very great and powerful king. God made him very important.


No, you did not become humble. Instead, you have turned against the Lord of heaven. You ordered the drinking cups from the Lord’s temple to be brought to you. Then you and your royal officials, your wives, and your women servants {\cf2\super [61]} drank wine from those cups. You gave praise to the gods of silver and gold, of bronze, iron, wood, and stone. Those are not really gods, they can’t see, or hear, or understand anything. But you did not give honor to the God who has the power over your life and everything you do.


So he called ten of his servants together. He gave a bag of money {\cf2\super [300]} to each servant. The man said, ‘Do business with this money until I come back.’


The Word {\cf2\super [6]} (Christ) was full of grace and truth. From him we all received more and more blessings.


John answered, “A man can get only what God gives him.


Through Christ, God gave me the special work of an apostle. {\cf2\super [7]} God gave me this work to lead people of all nations to believe and obey God. And I do this work for Christ.


God has given me a special gift. That is why I have something to say to every person among you. Don’t think that you are better than you really are. You must see yourself like you really are. Decide what you are by the kind of faith God has given you.


We all have different gifts. Each gift came because of the grace (kindness) that God gave us. If a person has the gift of prophecy, {\cf2\super [131]} then that person should use that gift with the faith he has.


But, because of God’s grace (gift), that is what I am. And his grace that he gave me was not wasted. I worked harder than all the other apostles. (But I was not really the one working. It was God’s grace that was with me.)


Is Apollos important? No! Is Paul important? No! We are only servants of God who helped you believe. Each one of us did the work God gave us to do.


Your proud boasting is not good. You know the saying, “Just a little yeast {\cf2\super [29]} makes the whole batch of dough rise.”


I wish all people were like me. But each person has his own gift from God. One person has one gift, another person has another gift.


Everything good comes from God. And every perfect gift is from God. These good gifts come down from the Father who made all the lights in the sky (sun, moon, stars). But God never changes \{like those lights\}. He is always the same.


Each of you received a spiritual gift \{from God\}. God has shown you his grace (kindness) in many different ways. And you are like servants who are responsible for using God’s gifts. So be good servants and use your gifts to serve each other.
