So Amos answered Amaziah, ‘I was  not a prophet or the son of a prophet;  , rather, I was  a herdsman,  and I took care of sycamore figs.

Elijah left there and found Elisha  son of Shaphat as he was ploughing. Twelve teams of oxen were in front of him, and he was with the twelfth team. Elijah walked by him and threw his mantle over him.


One of the sons of the prophets  said to his fellow prophet by the word of the Lord, ‘Strike me! ’ But the man refused to strike him.


When the sons of the prophets from Jericho who were observing saw him, they said, ‘The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.’ They came to meet him and bowed down to the ground in front of him.


Then the sons of the prophets  who were at Bethel came out to Elisha and said, ‘Do you know that the Lord will take your master away from you today? ’ He said, ‘Yes, I know. Be quiet.’


Then the sons of the prophets who were in Jericho came up to Elisha and said, ‘Do you know that the Lord will take your master away from you today? ’ He said, ‘Yes, I know. Be quiet.’


Fifty men from the sons of the prophets came and stood observing them at a distance while the two of them stood by the Jordan.


When Elisha returned to Gilgal,  there was a famine  in the land. The sons of the prophets  were sitting before him.  He said to his attendant, ‘Put on the large pot and make stew for the sons of the prophets.’


The sons of the prophets  said to Elisha, ‘Please notice that the place where we live under your supervision  is too small for us.


At that time, the seer Hanani  came to King Asa of Judah and said to him, ‘Because you depended on the king of Aram and have not depended on the Lord your God,  the army of the king of Aram has escaped from you.


Then Jehu  son of the seer Hanani went out to confront him  and said to King Jehoshaphat, ‘Do you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord?  Because of this, the Lord’s wrath is on you.


The rest of the events of Jehoshaphat’s reign from beginning to end are written in the Events of Jehu  son of Hanani, which is recorded in the Book of Israel’s Kings.

Instead, God has chosen  what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong.


Everyone who knew him previously and saw him prophesy with the prophets asked each other, ‘What has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets? ’
