Whatis desirablein a manis his kindness,And [it is] betterto be a poorman thana liar.
Allthe brothersof a poormanhatehim; Howmuchmoredo his friendsabandonhim! He pursues[them with] words,[but] they are gone.
Do you seea manwisein his own eyes?There is morehopefor a foolthanfor him.
Answera foolas his folly[deserves], That he not be wisein his own eyes.
Do not be wisein your own eyes;Fearthe LORDand turnawayfrom evil.
Woeto those whoare wisein their own eyesAnd cleverin their own sight!
and I will givethem oneheartand oneway,that they may fearMe always,for their own goodand for [the good of] their childrenafterthem.
But you, are you seekinggreatthingsfor yourself? Do not seek[them]; for behold,I am going to bringdisasteron allflesh,'declaresthe LORD,but I will giveyour lifeto you as bootyin allthe placeswhereyou may go.'"
[the] BLINDRECEIVE SIGHTand [the] lamewalk,[the] lepersare cleansedand [the] deafhear,[the] deadare raisedup, and [the] POORHAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHEDTO THEM.
"For you alwayshavethe poorwith you; but you do not alwayshaveMe.
"But whenyou givea reception,invite[the] poor,[the] crippled,[the] lame,[the] blind,
And turningHis gazetowardHis disciples,He [began] to say,"Blessed[are] you [who are] poor,for yoursis the kingdomof God.
And the congregationof thosewho believedwere of oneheartand soul;and not one[of them] claimedthat anythingbelongingto him was his own,but all thingswere common propertyto them.
Quite right,they were broken offfor their unbelief,but you standby your faith.Do not be conceited,but fear;
For I do not wantyou, brethren,to be uninformedof thismystery--sothat you will not be wisein your own estimation--that a partialhardeninghas happenedto Israeluntilthe fullnessof the Gentileshas comein;
For throughthe gracegivento me I sayto everyoneamongyou not to think more highlyof himself thanhe oughtto think;but to thinksoas to have sound judgment,as Godhas allottedto eacha measureof faith.
Nowmay the Godwho givesperseveranceand encouragementgrantyou to be of the samemindwith one anotheraccordingto ChristJesus,
May it neverbe! Howshall we whodiedto sinstilllivein it?
NowI exhortyou, brethren,by the nameof our LordJesusChrist,that you allagreeand that there be nodivisionsamongyou, but that you be made completein the samemindand in the samejudgment.
Let no mandeceivehimself.Ifany manamongyou thinksthat he is wisein thisage,he must becomefoolish,sothat he may becomewise.
We are foolsfor Christ'ssake,but you are prudentin Christ;we are weak,but you are strong;you are distinguished,but we are without honor.
I say[this] to your shame.[Is it] so,[that] thereis not amongyou onewise manwhowill be ableto decidebetweenhis brethren,
Ifanyonesupposesthat he knowsanything,he has not yetknownas he oughtto know;
Finally,brethren,rejoice,be made complete,be comforted,be like-minded,live in peace;and the Godof loveand peacewill be with you.
Onlyconductyourselves in a manner worthyof the gospelof Christ,sothat whetherI comeand seeyou orremain absent,I will hearof you that you are standing firmin onespirit,with onemindstriving togetherfor the faithof the gospel;
however,let us keep livingby that same[standard] to whichwe have attained.
I urgeEuodiaand I urgeSyntycheto live in harmonyin the Lord.
[Make sure that] your characteris free from the love of money,being contentwith what you have;for He Himselfhas said,"I WILL NEVERDESERTYOU, NORWILL I EVERFORSAKEYOU,"
To sumup, allof you be harmonious,sympathetic,brotherly,kindhearted,and humble in spirit;
noryet as lording it overthoseallotted to your charge,but provingto be examplesto the flock.
I wrotesomethingto the church;but Diotrephes,who loves to be firstamong them, does not acceptwhat we say.
