My strengthis driedup like a potsherd,And my tonguecleavesto my jaws;And You layme in the dustof death.
Afterthis,Jesus,knowingthat all thingshad alreadybeen accomplished,to fulfillthe Scripture,said,"I am thirsty."
I am wearywith my crying;my throatis parched;My eyesfailwhile I waitfor my God.
Therefore,I will allotHim a portionwith the great,And He will dividethe bootywith the strong;BecauseHe pouredout Himselfto death,And was numberedwith the transgressors;Yet He Himselfborethe sinof many,And intercededfor the transgressors.
They also gaveme gallfor my foodAnd for my thirstthey gaveme vinegarto drink.
My heartthrobs,my strengthfailsme; And the lightof my eyes,eventhat has gonefrom me.
For I deliveredto you as of first importancewhatI alsoreceived,that Christdiedfor our sinsaccordingto the Scriptures,
You hideYour face,they are dismayed;You takeawaytheir spirit,they expireAnd returnto their dust.
And Jesuscriedout againwith a loudvoice,and yieldedup His spirit.
A joyfulheartis goodmedicine,But a brokenspiritdriesup the bones.
The voiceof the nobleswas hushed,And their tonguestuckto their palate.
"Manyof those whosleepin the dustof the groundwill awake,theseto everlastinglife,but the othersto disgrace[and] everlastingcontempt.
The tongueof the infantcleavesTo the roofof its mouthbecause of thirst;The littleonesaskfor bread,[But] noonebreaks[it] for them.
"Whatprofitis there in my blood,if I godownto the pit?Will the dustpraiseYou? Will it declareYour faithfulness?
Allfleshwould perishtogether,And manwould returnto dust.
Remembernow,that You have mademe as clay;And would You turnme into dustagain?
And Abrahamreplied,"Nowbehold,I have venturedto speakto the Lord,although I am [but] dustand ashes.
By the sweatof your faceYou will eatbread,Tillyou returnto the ground,Becausefrom it you were taken;For you are dust,And to dustyou shall return."
"Whythen do You not pardonmy transgressionAnd takeawaymy iniquity?For nowI will liedownin the dust;And You will seekme, but I will not be."
"For we will surelydieand are like waterspilledon the groundwhichcannotbe gatheredup again. Yet Goddoes not takeaway life,but planswaysso that the banishedonewill not be castout from him.
"My boneclingsto my skinand my flesh,And I have escaped[only] by the skinof my teeth.
"And nowmy soulis pouredout withinme; Daysof afflictionhave seizedme.
