He is likea lionthat is eagerto tear,And as a younglionlurkingin hidingplaces.
Allmy boneswill say,"LORD,whois likeYou, Who deliversthe afflictedfrom him whois toostrongfor him, And the afflictedand the needyfrom him who robshim?"
The wickedhave drawnthe swordand benttheir bowTo castdownthe afflictedand the needy,To slaythose whoare uprightin conduct.
For behold,they have setan ambushfor my life;Fiercemenlaunchan attackagainstme, Not for my transgressionnorfor my sin,O LORD,
He who oppressesthe poortauntshis Maker,But he who is graciousto the needyhonorsHim.
He who oppressesthe poorto makemorefor himself Or who givesto the rich,[will] only[come to] poverty.
[Like] a roaringlionand a rushingbearIs a wickedrulerovera poorpeople.
"Whatdo you mean by crushingMy peopleAnd grindingthe faceof the poor?"Declaresthe LordGODof hosts.
As for a rogue,his weaponsare evil;He deviseswickedschemesTo destroy[the] afflictedwith slander,Even though [the] needyonespeakswhatis right.
For wickedmenare foundamong My people,They watchlike fowlerslyingin wait;They seta trap,They catchmen.
He is to me like a bearlyingin wait,[Like] a lionin secretplaces.
"The peopleof the landhave practicedoppressionand committedrobbery,and they have wrongedthe poorand needyand have oppressedthe sojournerwithoutjustice.
Does a lionroarin the forestwhen he hasnoprey?Does a youngliongrowlfrom his denunlesshe has captured[something]?
The godlypersonhas perishedfrom the land,And thereis noupright[person] among men.Allof them liein waitfor bloodshed;Eachof them huntsthe otherwith a net.
[The Chaldeans] bringallof them up with a hook,Dragthem awaywith their net,And gatherthem together in their fishingnet.Thereforethey rejoiceand are glad.
You piercedwith his own spearsThe headof his throngs.They stormedin to scatterus; Their exultation[was] likethose Who devourthe oppressedin secret.
There is a soundof the shepherds'wail,For their gloryis ruined;There is a soundof the younglions'roar,For the prideof the Jordanis ruined.
"He who is a hired hand,and not a shepherd,whois not the ownerof the sheep,seesthe wolfcoming,and leavesthe sheepand flees,and the wolfsnatchesthem and scatters[them].
"Sodo not listento them, for morethan fortyof them are lying in waitfor him whohave boundthemselvesunder a cursenot to eatordrinkuntilthey slayhim; and nowthey are readyand waitingfor the promisefrom you."
