He lurksin a hidingplaceas a lionin his lair;He lurksto catchthe afflicted; He catchesthe afflictedwhen he drawshim into his net.
He is likea lionthat is eagerto tear,And as a younglionlurkingin hidingplaces.
For behold, they have setan ambushfor my life;Fiercemenlaunchan attackagainstme, Not for my transgressionnorfor my sin,O LORD,
The godlypersonhas perishedfrom the land,And thereis noupright[person] among men.Allof them liein waitfor bloodshed;Eachof them huntsthe otherwith a net.
Allmy boneswill say,"LORD,whois likeYou, Who deliversthe afflictedfrom him whois toostrongfor him, And the afflictedand the needyfrom him who robshim?"
"He who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, whois not the ownerof the sheep, seesthe wolfcoming, and leavesthe sheepand flees, and the wolfsnatchesthem and scatters[them].
There is a soundof the shepherds'wail,For their gloryis ruined; There is a soundof the younglions'roar,For the prideof the Jordanis ruined.
You piercedwith his own spearsThe headof his throngs. They stormedin to scatterus; Their exultation[was] likethose Who devourthe oppressedin secret.
Does a lionroarin the forestwhen he hasnoprey?Does a youngliongrowlfrom his denunlesshe has captured[something]?
"The peopleof the landhave practicedoppressionand committedrobbery, and they have wrongedthe poorand needyand have oppressedthe sojournerwithoutjustice.
He is to me like a bearlyingin wait,[Like] a lionin secretplaces.
As for a rogue, his weaponsare evil;He deviseswickedschemesTo destroy[the] afflictedwith slander,Even though [the] needyonespeakswhatis right.
"Whatdo you mean by crushingMy peopleAnd grindingthe faceof the poor?"Declaresthe LordGODof hosts.
[Like] a roaringlionand a rushingbearIs a wickedrulerovera poorpeople.
He who oppressesthe poorto makemorefor himself Or who givesto the rich,[will] only[come to] poverty.
He who oppressesthe poortauntshis Maker,But he who is graciousto the needyhonorsHim.
The proudhave hiddena trapfor me, and cords; They have spreada netby the wayside; They have setsnaresfor me. Selah.
"Becauseof the devastationof the afflicted, becauseof the groaningof the needy,NowI will arise,"saysthe LORD;"I will sethim in the safetyfor which he longs."
"Sodo not listento them, for morethan fortyof them are lying in waitfor him whohave boundthemselvesunder a cursenot to eatordrinkuntilthey slayhim; and nowthey are readyand waitingfor the promisefrom you."
[The Chaldeans] bringallof them up with a hook,Dragthem awaywith their net,And gatherthem together in their fishingnet.Thereforethey rejoiceand are glad.
For wickedmenare foundamong My people,They watchlike fowlerslyingin wait; They seta trap,They catchmen.
The wickedhave drawnthe swordand benttheir bowTo castdownthe afflictedand the needy,To slaythose whoare uprightin conduct.
For He standsat the righthandof the needy,To savehim from those who judgehis soul.
Whenthey crouchin [their] dens[And] liein waitin [their] lair?
