You, in Your greatcompassion,Did not forsakethem in the wilderness;The pillarof clouddid not leavethem by day,To guidethem on their way,Northe pillarof fireby night,to lightfor them the wayin whichthey were to go.
And He rememberedHis covenantfor their sake, And relentedaccording to the greatnessof His lovingkindness.
"Therefore You deliveredthem into the handof their oppressorswho oppressedthem, But when they criedto You in the timeof their distress,You heardfrom heaven,and according to Your greatcompassionYou gavethem delivererswho deliveredthem from the handof their oppressors.
"For I, the LORD,do not change;therefore you, O sonsof Jacob,are not consumed.
"And with a pillarof cloudYou ledthem by day,And with a pillarof fireby nightTo lightfor them the wayIn whichthey were to go.
"O my God,inclineYour earand hear!OpenYour eyesand seeour desolationsand the citywhichis calledby Your name;for we are not presentingour supplicationsbeforeYou on accountof any meritsof our own, but on accountof Your greatcompassion.
"To the Lordour God[belong] compassionand forgiveness,for we have rebelledagainst Him;
and they will tell[it] to the inhabitantsof thisland.They have heardthat You, O LORD,are in the midstof thispeople,for You, O LORD,are seeneyeto eye,while Your cloudstandsoverthem; and You gobeforethem in a pillarof cloudby dayand in a pillarof fireby night.
"But I withdrewMy handand actedfor the sakeof My name,that it should not be profanedin the sightof the nationsin whosesightI had broughtthem out.
"But I actedfor the sakeof My name,that it should not be profanedin the sightof the nations,before whosesightI had broughtthem out.
The LORD'Slovingkindnessesindeednevercease,For His compassionsneverfail.
"Rememberthesethings,O Jacob,And Israel,for you are My servant;I have formedyou, you are My servant,O Israel,you will not be forgottenby Me.
"Nevertheless, in Your greatcompassionYou did not makean endof them or forsakethem, For You are a graciousand compassionateGod.
For throughout alltheir journeys,the cloudof the LORDwas on the tabernacleby day,and there was firein it by night,in the sightof allthe houseof Israel.
"For the LORDwill not abandonHis peopleon accountof His greatname,becausethe LORDhas been pleasedto makeyou a peoplefor Himself.
Throughout alltheir journeyswhenever the cloudwas takenup from overthe tabernacle,the sonsof Israelwould setout;
"You shall rememberallthe waywhichthe LORDyour Godhas ledyou in the wildernessthesefortyyears,that He might humbleyou, testingyou, to knowwhatwas in your heart,whether you would keepHis commandmentsornot.
To Him who ledHis peoplethrough the wilderness,For His lovingkindnessis everlasting;
"Yet My eyesparedthem ratherthandestroyingthem, and I did not causetheir annihilationin the wilderness.
