saying,"I have sinnedby betrayinginnocentblood."But they said,"Whatis that to us? See[to that] yourself!"
It cameabout when Ahabheardthesewords,that he torehis clothesand puton sackclothand fasted,and he layin sackclothand wentabout despondently.
and alsofor the innocentbloodwhichhe shed,for he filledJerusalemwith innocentblood;and the LORDwouldnot forgive.
"But you smearwith lies;You are allworthlessphysicians.
"I have heardmanysuchthings;Sorrycomfortersare you all.
They bandthemselves togetheragainstthe lifeof the righteousAnd condemnthe innocentto death.
Then he calledfor Mosesand Aaronat nightand said,"Riseup, getout from amongmy people,bothyou and the sonsof Israel;and go,worshipthe LORD,as you have said.
Then Pharaohsentfor Mosesand Aaron,and saidto them, "I have sinnedthistime;the LORDis the righteousone,and I and my peopleare the wickedones.
A manwill be praisedaccordingto his insight,But one of perversemindwill be despised.
"Onlyknowfor certainthat ifyou putme to death,you will bringinnocentbloodon yourselves, and on thiscityand on its inhabitants;for trulythe LORDhas sentme to you to speakallthesewordsin your hearing."
Then they calledon the LORDand said,"We earnestlypray,OLORD,do not let us perishon account of thisman'slifeand do not putinnocentbloodon us; for You, O LORD,have doneas You have pleased."
While he was sittingon the judgment seat,his wifesenthim [a message], saying,"Have nothingto do with that righteous Man;for last nightI sufferedgreatlyin a dreambecauseof Him."
Nowthe centurion,and thosewho were with him keeping guard overJesus,when they sawthe earthquakeand the things that were happening,became veryfrightenedand said,"Trulythiswas the Sonof God!"
And he saidto them the third time,"Why,whatevilhas this mandone?I have foundin Him noguilt[demanding] death;thereforeI will punishHim and releaseHim."
"And we indeed[are suffering] justly,for we are receivingwhatwe deservefor our deeds;but this manhas donenothingwrong."
Nowwhen the centurionsawwhat had happened,he [began] praisingGod,saying,"Certainlythismanwas innocent."
The Jewsansweredhim, "We havea law,and by that lawHe oughtto diebecauseHe madeHimselfout [to] [be] the Sonof God."
"And though they foundnogroundfor [putting Him to] death, they askedPilatethat He be executed.
Nowwe knowthat whateverthe Lawsays,it speaksto thosewho are underthe Law,sothat everymouthmay be closedand allthe worldmay becomeaccountableto God;
by meansof the hypocrisyof liarssearedin their ownconscienceas with a branding iron,
They professto knowGod,but by [their] deedsthey deny[Him], beingdetestableand disobedientand worthlessfor anygooddeed.
For it was fittingfor us to have sucha high priest,holy,innocent,undefiled,separatedfrom sinnersand exaltedabove the heavens;
but with preciousblood,as of a lambunblemishedand spotless,[the blood] of Christ.
not as Cain,[who] was of the eviloneand slewhis brother.And for whatreasondid he slayhim? Becausehis deedswere evil,and his brother'swere righteous.
And thosewho dwellon the earth[will] rejoiceoverthem and celebrate;and they will sendgiftsto one another,becausethesetwoprophetstormentedthosewho dwellon the earth.
Then Saulsaidto Samuel,"I have sinned;I have indeedtransgressedthe commandof the LORDand your words,becauseI fearedthe peopleand listenedto their voice.
Then he said,"I have sinned;[but] pleasehonorme nowbeforethe eldersof my peopleand beforeIsrael,and gobackwith me, that I may worshipthe LORDyour God."
"For he tookhis lifein his handand struckthe Philistine,and the LORDbroughtabouta greatdeliverancefor allIsrael;you saw[it] and rejoiced.Whythen will you sinagainst innocentbloodby puttingDavidto deathwithouta cause?"
