These,moreover, you shall detestamongthe birds;they are abhorrent,not to be eaten:the eagleand the vultureand the buzzard,
"The pathnobirdof preyknows,Norhas the falcon'seyecaughtsightof it.
"Whopreparesfor the ravenits nourishmentWhenits youngcryto GodAnd wanderabout withoutfood?
"Behold,he goesup like clouds,And his chariotslike the whirlwind;His horsesare swifterthaneagles.Woeto us, for we are ruined!"
"For My peopleare foolish,They knowMe not; They are stupidchildrenAnd havenounderstanding.They are shrewdto doevil,But to dogoodthey do not know."
For thussaysthe LORD:"Behold,one will flyswiftlylike an eagleAnd spreadout his wingsagainstMoab.
Our pursuerswere swifterThanthe eaglesof the sky;They chasedus on the mountains,They waitedin ambushfor us in the wilderness.
[Put] the trumpetto your lips!Like an eagle[the enemy comes] againstthe houseof the LORD,Becausethey have transgressedMy covenantAnd rebelledagainstMy law.
and they shall be abhorrentto you; you may not eatof their flesh,and their carcassesyou shall detest.
Whateverin the waterdoes not havefinsand scalesis abhorrentto you.
and the kiteand the falconin its kind,
"Their horsesare swifterthanleopardsAnd keenerthanwolvesin the evening.Their horsemencomegalloping,Their horsemencomefrom afar;They flylike an eagleswooping[down] to devour.
Then I liftedup my eyesand looked,and there twowomenwere comingout with the windin their wings;and they had wingslike the wingsof a stork,and they liftedup the ephahbetweenthe earthand the heavens.
"Whereverthe corpseis, therethe vultureswill gather.
For we alsooncewere foolishourselves,disobedient,deceived,enslavedto variouslustsand pleasures,spending our lifein maliceand envy,hateful,hatingone another.
