As Jeremiah was stillnot goingback,[he said], "Goon backthen to Gedaliahthe sonof Ahikam,the sonof Shaphan,whomthe kingof Babylonhas appointedover the citiesof Judah,and staywith him amongthe people;orelse goanywhereit seems rightfor you to go."So the captainof the bodyguardgavehim a rationand a giftand lethim go.
Then the kingcommandedHilkiahthe priest,Ahikamthe sonof Shaphan,Achborthe sonof Micaiah,Shaphanthe scribe,and Asaiahthe king'sservantsaying,
So Hilkiahthe priest,Ahikam,Achbor,Shaphan,and Asaiahwentto Huldahthe prophetess,the wifeof Shallumthe sonof Tikvah,the sonof Harhas,keeperof the wardrobe(now she livedin Jerusalemin the SecondQuarter); and they spoketo her.
Then the kingcommandedHilkiah,Ahikamthe sonof Shaphan,Abdonthe sonof Micah,Shaphanthe scribe,and Asaiahthe king'sservant,saying,
Blessedbe the LORD,the Godof our fathers,whohas put[such a thing] as thisin the king'sheart,to adornthe houseof the LORDwhichis in Jerusalem,
ThisEzrawentup from Babylon,and he was a scribeskilledin the lawof Moses,whichthe LORDGodof Israelhad given;and the kinggrantedhim allhe requestedbecause the handof the LORDhis God[was] upon him.
"OLord,I beseechYou, may Your earbe attentiveto the prayerof Your servantand the prayerof Your servantswho delightto revereYour name,and makeYour servantsuccessfultodayand granthim compassionbeforethisman."Now I was the cupbearerto the king.
"Whenyou are castdown,you will speakwith confidence,And the humblepersonHe will save.
When a man'swaysare pleasingto the LORD,He makesevenhis enemiesto be at peacewith him.
The king'sheartis [like] channelsof waterin the handof the LORD;He turnsit whereverHe wishes.
The LORDsaid,"SurelyI will setyou freefor [purposes of] good;SurelyI will cause the enemyto makesupplicationto you In a timeof disasterand a timeof distress.
But the handof Ahikamthe sonof Shaphanwas with Jeremiah,so that he was not giveninto the handsof the peopleto puthim to death.
they even sentand tookJeremiahout of the courtof the guardhouseand entrustedhim to Gedaliah,the sonof Ahikam,the sonof Shaphan,to takehim home.So he stayedamongthe people.
"But now,behold,I am freeingyou todayfrom the chainswhichare on your hands.Ifyou would preferto comewith me to Babylon,come[along], and I will lookafteryou; but ifyou would prefernot to comewith me to Babylon,nevermind.Look,the wholelandis beforeyou; gowhereverit seems goodand rightfor you to go."
In the seventhmonthIshmaelthe sonof Nethaniah,the sonof Elishama,of the royalfamilyand [one] of the chiefofficersof the king,along with tenmen,cameto Mizpahto Gedaliahthe sonof Ahikam.While they were eatingbreadtogethertherein Mizpah,
becauseof the Chaldeans;for they were afraidof them, sinceIshmaelthe sonof Nethaniahhad struckdownGedaliahthe sonof Ahikam,whomthe kingof Babylonhad appointedover the land.
Ishmaelthe sonof Nethaniahand the tenmenwhowere with him aroseand struckdownGedaliahthe sonof Ahikam,the sonof Shaphan,with the swordand putto deaththe one whomthe kingof Babylonhad appointedover the land.
The nextday we putin at Sidon;and JuliustreatedPaulwith considerationand allowedhim to goto his friendsand receivecare.
but the centurion,wantingto bringPaulsafely through,keptthem from their intention,and commandedthat thosewho couldswimshould jump overboardfirstand getto land,
They also honoredus with manymarks of respect;and when we were setting sail,they supplied[us] with allwe needed.
sothat we confidentlysay,"THE LORDIS MY HELPER,I WILL NOT BE AFRAID.WHATWILL MANDOTO ME?"
