But afterwardthey turnedaroundand tookbackthe maleservantsand the femaleservantswhomthey had setfree,and broughtthem into subjectionfor maleservantsand for femaleservants.
But as for those who turnasideto their crookedways,The LORDwill leadthem away with the doersof iniquity.Peacebe upon Israel.
The wordsof his mouthare wickednessand deceit;He has ceasedto be wise[and] to dogood.
But when Pharaohsawthat there was relief,he hardenedhis heartand did not listento them, as the LORDhad said.
Then Pharaohcalledfor Mosesand Aaronand said,"Entreatthe LORDthat He removethe frogsfrom me and from my people;and I will letthe peoplego,that they may sacrificeto the LORD."
"Makesupplicationto the LORD,for there has been enoughof God'sthunderand hail;and I will letyou go,and you shall staynolonger."
Like a dogthat returnsto its vomitIs a foolwho repeatshis folly.
Becausethe sentenceagainst an evildeedis not executedquickly,thereforethe heartsof the sonsof menamong them are givenfullyto doevil.
And allthe officialsand allthe peopleobeyedwhohad enteredinto the covenantthat eachmanshould setfreehis maleservantand eachmanhis femaleservant,so that nooneshould keepthem anylongerin bondage;they obeyed,and set[them free].
Then the wordof the LORDcameto Jeremiahfrom the LORD,saying,
"Yet you turnedand profanedMy name,and eachmantookbackhis maleservantand eachmanhis femaleservantwhomyou had setfreeaccording to their desire,and you broughtthem into subjectionto be your maleservantsand femaleservants."'
Zedekiahkingof Judahand his officialsI will giveinto the handof their enemiesand into the handof those who seektheir life,and into the handof the armyof the kingof Babylonwhich has goneawayfrom you.
Meanwhile, Pharaoh'sarmyhad setout from Egypt;and when the Chaldeanswho had been besiegingJerusalemheardthe reportabout them, they liftedthe [siege] from Jerusalem.
Whatshall I dowith you, O Ephraim?Whatshall I dowith you, O Judah?For your loyaltyis like a morningcloudAnd like the dewwhich goesaway early.
They turn,[but] not upward,They are like a deceitfulbow;Their princeswill fallby the swordBecauseof the insolenceof their tongue.This[will be] their derisionin the landof Egypt.
And those who have turnedbackfrom followingthe LORD,And those whohave not soughtthe LORDor inquiredof Him."
"For ifa manfindshis enemy,will he let him goawaysafely?May the LORDtherefore rewardyou with goodin returnfor whatyou have doneto me thisday.
Then Saulsaid,"I have sinned.Return,my sonDavid,for I will not harmyou againbecausemy lifewas preciousin your sightthisday.Behold,I have playedthe fooland have committeda seriouserror."
